LSC Scoop Power Poll and Week 11 Superlatives

1. Midwestern State (1) - Jumped ACU early and held on for dear life.
2. Texas A&M-Kingsville (4) - Javs back in the playoffs after long 4 year absence.
3. Tarleton State (2) - Loss to Buffs did not cost Texans a playoff spot this year.
4. Abilene Christian (3) - Backed into playoffs, but could still make some noise.
5. West Texas A&M (5) - Will the Buffs go bowling?
6. Angelo State (6) - Took big step forward this year; will they take another in 2010?
7. Texas A&M-Commerce (7) - Lion's don't like to do anything the easy way, hold off SWO for the outright LSC North title.
8. Southeastern Oklahoma (8) - Held off pesky Tigers.
9. Eastern New Mexico (9) - Will be one of the LSC North favorites next year.
10. Central Oklahoma (10) - Brochos close out season on high note.
11. Northeastern State (11) - Better days ahead for Riverhawks.
12. Southwestern Oklahoma (12) - Bulldogs ready to put 2009 behind them.
13. East Central (13) - MJ back at QB almost pulled off big upset.

Team Performance of the Week - Midwestern State
The Mustangs needed a win Saturday to guarantee a playoff berth, and the #12 ACU Wildcats stood in their way. MSU took advantage of the strong wind in the first quarter, scoring on three consecutive drives, taking a 15-0 lead. The Mustangs would not score again, but the defense was able to limit ACU to just 1 TD and 2 FGs for the game. With the win, the Mustangs wrapped up the #3 seed and will get the privelige of host ACU in the first round of the NCAA Playoffs.

Team Offensive Performance of the Week - West Texas A&M
The Buffalo offense closed out the season strong, gaining 635 yards and scoring 49 points in their win over #7 Tarleton State. Coming into the game, the Texan defense was allowing just 276 yards and 14 points per contest. Keithon Flemming rushed for 108 yards and 3 TDs and had 73 more receiving, while Brittan Golden caught 6 passes for 201 yards and 2 TDs and Tyson Williams caught 8 passes for 148 yards and 1 TD. Team Defensive Performance of the Week - Texas A&M-Commerce
The Lion defense held SWO to just 12 points and 270 yards on the day, and really tightened up with the game on the line, forcing a punt and two turnovers on the Bulldog's last three possessions. TAMC had 8 sacks, 10 tackles for losses, and 4 turnovers on the day.

Offensive Performance of the Week - Taylor Harris, West Texas A&M
Harris threw for 536 yards and 4 TDs, leading the Buffaloes to their fifth straight win, a 49-35 win over #7 Tarleton State. Harris completed his first 17 passes, and finished the game with 31 completions in 37 attempts.

Defensive Performance of the Week - J. P. Oliver, East Central
Oliver led the Tiger defense with 13 tackles, including a second quarter sack of Justin Pitrucha on a fourth down attempt, and intercepted a pass, setting up East Central's first touchdown.

Special Teams Performance of the Week - Jerome Hewitt, Southeastern Oklahoma Hewitt opened the scoring against East Central, with a 54 yard punt return for a TD. It was the third punt return TD for Hewitt this season - and he had two kickoffs for TDs as well.
