The 2009 Corpus Christi Carroll Tigers surprised a lot of people when they defeated a San Antonio team (O'Connor) in the first round of the playoffs. Turner's 85 yard punt return was a big part of the 24-10 win. It was their first playoff win since 2001. He followed that up with 2 catches against New Braunfels, including a 66 yard TD reception, but the Tigers were unable to muster much more offense against the Unicorns. And the best news for Tigers' fans - he will be back for his senior season in 2010.

We had a really good group of athletes and we all got along well and i think thats why this year we got deeper in the playoffs than in previous years because we had that connection on and off the field whether we were in a game or at someones house just having fun. Ill remember that mainly
Q - Corpus Christi Carroll plays in a tough district, but the Tigers not only qualified for the playoffs, you won bi-district for the first time since 2001. How did it feel to knock off San Antonio O'Connor?
It was a great feeling knowing that we were the first team to finally win a playoff game in 8 years. Beating a team such as San Antonio O'Connor really boosted our confidence.
Q - Things did not go so good the following week. What was going through your mind as you walked off the field after falling to New Braunfels?
I felt as if we should have won that game. Minus the five turnovers we had, i think we were better athletically than New Braunfels but we just did not go execute the little things like ball protection. I was upset knowing that we could have easily won but im glad we got the experiance and we can only better our mistakes from there.
Q - Tell us a little bit about recruiting. When did colleges start coming around? Was it ever a distraction?
I have been receiving recruiting questionnaires since my sophomore year and recently have been emailing a lot of coaches for both track and football. It can be distracting if you let the attention get to your head. When your at school and your receiving letters from all the colleges a lot of your team mates can build your head up but you have to stay humble and remember to focus on your goals of getting that scholarship you want
Q - Who are the schools interested in you?
i have received letters from Air Force, LSU, Georgia, Duke, TCU, UofH, Stephen F. Austin, UNLV, Louisville, Akron, Texas A&M and a few other schools. But as of now i have only been in contact with the TCU, Louisville, and Texas A&M coaches.
Q - What schools are you most interested in?
I'm interested in TCU and Texas A&M as of right now.
Q - How big of a role do academics play in your decision? Have you decided on a major?
Academics is a key part in my decision of the school i will go to. I plan to get an architecture degree.
Q - What strengths do you have that will help you be successful at the collegiate level?
I'm confident and not easily influenced. I can go against what the crowd is doing and feel good about myself.
Q - Who are your role models, or the people that have helped you get where you are today?
My mother and Father have been my biggest role models. They may not be perfect but they have instilled the morals and values that i keep with me today.
Q - Any advice for guys that will be going through this process in the next year or two?
I'm not sure. I will be going through the next phase of the recruiting process.
Q - What teammates do you think have the ability to play at the collegiate level? Are they being recruited?
Jonathan Anderson and Ferrington Macon. Jonathan has commited to TCU and Ferrington is talking to the UTSA coaches and his commitment there is probable.
