The Midwestern State Mustangs had an extra defensive end hanging around at practice Tuesday, although it will be a while before he can help the team again — at least on the field.
Jeff Williams, who was seriously injured in a car accident less than six months ago, was on the field watching his teammates go through their paces.
“He was begging coach (Rich) Renner to be here,” said MSU head coach Bill Maskill. “He was dying to be out here with everybody. It’s probably a good thing for the other guys to see him.
“He should be an inspiration. You have to admire the guy. He dang near died and now he wants to be out here playing.”
