But the fledgling Division II program has taken a big step, preparing to welcome its first class of players within a week.
Meanwhile, workers continue to finish the new, on-campus Benson Stadium complex.
“It's getting exciting,” head coach Mike Santiago said. “We have players coming in. We're actually getting ready to do football. We can actually use the word kick off.”
Gradually, the look of the campus has changed this summer with the construction of a 3,000-seat grandstand.
Adjacent to the grandstand, workers have completed a 16,000-square-foot field house. Earlier this week, Santiago and his coaches moved from their temporary offices at the McDermott Center and into the field house.
