Stephenville--There is an old saying in sports, “There’s always next year.”
Well, it’s next year.
Tarleton State football comes into the 2008 season after finishing 2007 with a 9-2 record and no postseason appearance.Head Coach Sam McElroy is entering his fourth year with Tarleton and has a record of 22-9 in his three seasons at the helm.
TSU just missed out on the playoffs after dropping two out of the final three games last season to Abilene Christian and West Texas A&M.
Tarleton comes into 08 as the third pick in the Lone Star South Conference, behind ACU and WTAMU, respectively. They are also ranked No. 25 in the Sporting News Top 25 poll.
Tarleton will have most of its offensive unit from last season, including quarterback Scott Grantham and his two main targets, Devin Guinn and Shamarr Prentice.
