Players of the Week
NORTH OFFENSIVE
Daniel Nichols, Southeastern Oklahoma, Sr., WR, Cooper, Texas/Cooper HS

Nichols was Southeastern's favorite target through the air in its 33-10 win over Southwestern Oklahoma. Nichols hauled in five passes for 98 yards, with a long reception going for 48. He found the endzone on his longest catch of the day, his seventh TD catch of the year. Nichols has now hauled in scores in four of the six games he's played in, and he has also caught at least four passes in his last four outings.

CO-NORTH DEFENSIVE
Brad Chesshir, Southeastern Oklahoma, Jr., LB, Nashville, Ark./Nashville HS

Chesshir turned in a career day to help Southeastern to a 33-10 win over Southwestern Oklahoma. He led all defenders with 10 tackles, picking up seven solos, and added a sack for a loss of 10 yards. He also helped in pass coverage, picking off a pair of passes, his first interceptions of the season.

Cory Whitfield, Texas A&M-Commerce, Jr., Linebacker, Palestine, Texas/Kilgore JC
Whitfield had his sixth-straight game with double-digit tackles with a 10-tackle effort against the RiverHawks. He scored his second defensive touchdown of the season when he picked up a fumble and raced 25 yards to give the Lions a 20-12 advantage.

NORTH SPECIAL TEAMS
Jerome Hewitt, Southeastern Oklahoma, Sr., KR/PR, Gainesville, Texas/Gainesville HS

Hewitt found the endzone twice, once on a kick return and again on a punt return, to help Southeastern to a 33-10 win over Southwestern Oklahoma. The return brings his total to three TD returns on the year having returned a punt for a score the previous week. In all he racked up 102 yards on five punt returns to average just over 20 yards per return, while totaling 118 yards on just two kick returns, averaging over 55 per return. His kick return went for 94 yards, while his punt TD covered 63 yards. He now has five return scores in his collegiate career.

SOUTH OFFENSIVE
Andy Tanner, Midwestern State, Sr., Wide Receiver, Rockwall, Texas/Rockwall HS

Tanner tied a pair of school records as he finished with 11 receptions for 140 yards and two touchdowns to lead No. 23 Midwestern State to a 31-19 win over West Texas A&M Saturday night at Memorial Stadium. The senior from Rockwall became the first MSU receiver since former NFL'er Bryan Gilmore in 1998 to notch three-straight 100-yard receiving. Tanner's 11 receptions also matched former Midwestern standout Kendrick Gibson's program record for catches in a single game. Tanner had a diving, one-handed 10-yard TD catch in the first half, then added his seventh touchdown reception of the season in the fourth quarter. Tanner recorded receptions on 11 of the 12 plays in which he was targeted.

SOUTH DEFENSIVE
Jeff Edwards, Texas A&M-Kingsville, Sr., Linebacker, Houston, Texas/Westside

Edwards had the best game of his Javelina career. With the team leading 14-10 in the third quarter, he stepped in front of a TSU pass and rumbled 22 yards to the 7-yard line to give the Hoggies a first-and-goal. They would score on the next play to take a 20-10 lead. In the fourth quarter with the Javs clinging to a 27-20 lead, he picked off his second pass of the night. Once again, the Hoggies would score on the very next play. In addition to his two interceptions, he also had seven tackles, two tackles for loss and a quarterback sack.

SOUTH SPECIAL TEAMS
Pat Gardner, Midwestern State, R-Fr., Linebacker, Houston, Texas/Kingwood HS

Gardner blocked his second punt of the season as No. 23 Midwestern State rolled to a 31-19 win over West Texas A&M Saturday night at Memorial Stadium. The redshirt freshman linebacker blocked Tim Cowdrey's punt and recovered the ball at the Buffs' 9-yard line which allowed the Mustangs to take a two-score lead at with 11:55 remaining in the fourth quarter. It was MSU's eighth blocked kick of the season (seven punts, one field goal) which has led directly to 52 points (7 touchdowns, 1 field goal) this season.
