Impressive individual performances continue in week eight
Ten Lone Star Conference soccer players earned multiple points on the scoresheet this week, including Northeastern State’s Rachel Sordahl, who recorded a hat trick and an assist for a four-point day. On the season, five players have ten or more goals, with two of those reaching the double-digit plateau this week.
Players of the Week
MEN’S OFFENSIVE
Emerson Rodrigues, Eastern New Mexico, Jr., F, Natal, RN, Brazil
Rodrigues scored on two of his four shots on goal in Sunday’s Lone Star Conference game against Northeastern State, lifting the Hounds to their first conference win of the season. He now has 11 goals and is tied for the ENMU single-season goal record.
MEN’S DEFENSIVE
Alistair Caldwell, Eastern New Mexico, Fr., GK, Kilmarnock, Scotland
Caldwell made seven saves to preserve Eastern’s 3-0 victory over Northeastern State. With the win, he improved to 5-2-2 this season and has three shutouts.
WOMEN’S OFFENSIVE
Lindsay McHorse, West Texas A&M, So., F, Georgetown, Texas/Georgetown HS
McHorse added her 10th and 11th goals of the season on Sunday afternoon as the #13 Lady Buffs defeated #22 Midwestern State, 3-1. The Lady Buffs ran their overall record to 10-2-1 with a 4-2 mark in the Lone Star Conference.
WOMEN’S DEFENSIVE
Alyson Thomas, Abilene Christian, Sr., D, Arcadia, California/Arcadia
Thomas has been a key defender for the Wildcats all season. Against Texas Woman’s she scored for the Wildcats with a strike coming off a Pioneer foul giving ACU the 1-0 win. Thomas and the Wildcats also helped hold TWU to six total shots in the match. On Sunday Thomas again played a part in the scoring as she found Krysta Grimm for her first assist of the season. Thomas also helped hold A&M-C without a shot in the first half and only four shots in the second. She has also helped the third year Wildcats win their 10th game for the first time in school history helping ACU find the top of the LSC standings along with a No. 5 Regional Ranking.
WOMEN’S GOALKEEPER
Nori Morgan, Texas Woman’s, Jr., GK, Plano, Texas/Plano East
Made a career-high 12 saves against Abilene Christian. She allowed just one goal on a free-kick in two roads games last week. She also posted her fourth shutout of the season at Angelo State with four saves and helped the team to its third win in four games. On the season she has started and played every minute for the Pioneers and has a 1.30 goals against average and .798 save percentage.
