LSC Football Mid-Season Report Card

This is a little different from the weekly power poll. The power poll is our opinion of how the teams stack up against each other. The report card grades the teams on their performance compared to how they were predicted to do.

  1. Abilene Christian - undefeated, knocked off Northwest Missouri in opener, #2 in nation. Winning differently than 2008 (with defense and running game), but still winning. Grade A
  2. West Texas A&M - Injuries and a brutal early schedule have taken their toll on the Buffaloes. Can still play spoiler. Grade C-
  3. Texas A&M-Kingsville - Running game has surprised, but passing has been inconsistent. Team has come through in both big tests so far. Grade A
  4. Tarleton State - About as expected, solid D and solid running game. Can still move up. Grade B+
  5. Central Oklahoma - Tough early schedule again, but not winning close games that they did last year. Grade C-
  6. Midwestern State - have dominated lesser opponents. Need to win against top teams. Grade B
  7. Southeastern Oklahoma - Offense started strong, now struggling. Defense mirror opposite. Grade B
  8. Texas A&M-Commerce - Defense has been ok, but offense has been inconsistent. Could move up if they take care of LSC North. Grade C
  9. Angelo State - Surprise team of the year at the midway point. Defense continues last year's jump forward, and offense joins them in the upper half of LSC. Grade A+
  10. East Central - No one could have predicted the QB situation, and complete offensive woes. Grade D
  11. Eastern New Mexico - have been a pleasant surprise. Passing has been great, but running game and defense need to step up a notch. Grade B+
  12. Northeastern State - have shown flashes of potential, need more consistency. Grade C
  13. Southwestern Oklahoma - Just have not been competitive. Grade D
