LSC Weekly Football Release
LSC Football Blitz
All but one Lone Star Conference team is in action during week nine with five divisional and one crossover game scheduled. Texas A&M-Commerce is idle this week.

Divisional play continued last week with Central Oklahoma and A&M-C recording wins in the North Division, while Midwestern State, Tarleton State and West Texas A&M triumphed in the South. Angelo State won the only crossover game to improve the South’s record to 20-2 in crossover contests.

WTAMU topped Abilene Christian and MSU beat Texas A&M-Kingsville to end their perfect seasons. Now four teams - ACU, TSU, TAMUK and ASU - each have one loss in both South Division and LSC play.

In week eight the LSC had five quarterbacks throw for 300-plus yards, seven receivers and six rushers over the century mark and 16 double-digit tacklers. Top performances included:

Players of the Week
NORTH OFFENSIVE
Brandon Noohi, Central Oklahoma, Sr., QB, Oklahoma City, Okla./Mount Saint Mary
Noohi had the third-best total offense game in school history in leading Central Oklahoma to a 41-23 win over Southwestern Oklahoma, accounting for five touchdowns and 416 total yards. The senior quarterback rushed for a career-high 146 yards and three touchdowns on just 15 carries while also hitting 30-of-39 passes for 270 yards and two scores. He had TD runs of 10 and 35 yards in the first half to lead UCO back from an early 14-0 deficit and then had a five-yard scoring run along with TD passes of 10 and 23 yards in the second half as the Bronchos took charge. Noohi had runs of 28, 35 and 41 yards in the game.

NORTH DEFENSIVE
Terry Hardeman, Central Oklahoma, Sr., LB, Spencer, Okla./Star Spencer HS
Hardeman spearheaded UCO’s defensive effort in a 41-23 win over Southwestern Oklahoma as the Bronchos allowed a season-low 318 yards, including just 63 rushing. The senior linebacker made a team-high 12 tackles with 1.5 sacks for minus-12 yards, with UCO limiting the Bulldogs to three points from the last minute of the first quarter to the final minute of the game in turning a 14-0 deficit into a 41-17 lead.

NORTH SPECIAL TEAMS
Ahmed Abo-Mahmood, Texas A&M-Commerce, Fr., K, Sherman, Texas/Sherman HS
Abo-Mahmood made four extra points and a 38-yard field goal that proved to be the difference as the Lions’ defeated East Central, 31-28. His 38-yard field goal tied a season-long for the freshman kicker. For the season, he has been perfect 25-for-25 on extra points and 5-for-7 on field goals.

SOUTH OFFENSIVE
Keithon Flemming, West Texas A&M, Sr., RB, Mesquite, Texas/Naaman Forest HS
Flemming scored all four of WT’s TDs in a 32-21 win over #1-ranked Abilene Christian, gaining 173 all-purpose yards (72 rushing, 101 passing). He scored on rushes of one and four yards, while having TD receptions of eight and six yards. His longest rush of the day was a 34-yarder that moved the ball from the WT 40 to the ACU 26 that came with less than five minutes remaining in the game. He followed that run with an 11-yard effort that set up the game-icing score.

SOUTH DEFENSIVE
Shad Baichtal, West Texas A&M, Jr., LB, Mission Viejo, Calif./Mission Viejo HS
Against the #1-ranked Wildcats, Baichtal intercepted ACU’s first passing attempt of the game, forced a QB hurry, registered a safety when he tackled Wildcat RB Reggie Bush in the end zone, assisted on a QB sack and logged six total tackles in helping the Buffs take a 32-21 road victory.

SOUTH SPECIAL TEAMS
Tim Cowdrey, West Texas A&M, Jr., P, Reedley, Calif./Immanuel HS
While making just four punts at #1-Abilene Christian, Tim Cowdrey (6-4, 200, Jr-TR) made an immense impression. He averaged ‘just’ 36.8 yards per boot, with a long of 45 yards, but none of his punts were returned and he placed one effort which was downed at the ACU one yard line. That downed punt led to a WT safety on ACU’s first ensuing snap from scrimmage.
