College football dream comes true for Chiefs' receiver - Quinton Martinez, San Angelo Standard Times
Lake View's Smith signs with Wildcats

J.D. Smith has wanted to go to Abilene Christian University since before he ever played a down of varsity football at Lake View High School.

Monday, he signed with the Lone Star Conference-power Wildcats, making good on the dream he has had for several years.

The Lake View senior caught 68 passes for 808 yards and nine touchdowns as a senior, earning his way onto the All-West Texas Super Team as a receiver and first-team All-District 8-4A honors.

His two-year tally was even more impressive. In just 20 games, Smith hauled in more than 100 passes for 1,507 yards and 18 touchdowns.
