LSC BASEBALL Weekly Release - LSC Office
The Lone Star Conference baseball season continues with a full slate of league series this week. Tarleton State and Southeastern Oklahoma are tied atop the conference standings with identical 15-6 LSC records.
LSC baseball teams are 219-196 overall this season. Combined the squads are currently 22-13 versus Heartland Conference teams and 5-3 against the Mid-American Intercollegiate Athletics Association, which are the other two conferences in the NCAA South Central Region.

HITTERS
Will Miller, West Texas A&M University, SR, OF, Vernon, Texas, Vernon HS
Miller had a career weekend at the plate as the Buffs went 5-0 this past week, sweeping a doubleheader from Oklahoma Panhandle before taking three games from East Central at home. WT is 24-10 overall this season with a 13-8 mark in the Lone Star Conference. He finished the week with a .611 batting average with four doubles, two home runs, 10 RBI and 21 total bases for a slugging percentage of 1.167 and an on-base percentage of .632. On Saturday in the doubleheader against ECU, Miller went 8-for-8 with two doubles, two homeruns and 8 RBI as the Buffs swept the Tigers at home. WT returns to action this week as they travel to Plainview, Texas on Tuesday to face off with Wayland Baptist before heading to Durant, Okla., for a three game weekend series against Southeastern Oklahoma.
Justin Miller, Southeastern Oklahoma State University, SR, OF, Sumner, Texas, North Lamar HS
Miller turned in a huge week to help the Storm to a 3-2 record that included a series win over Eastern New Mexico. He posted a .409 batting average over 22 at-bats, making the most of his nine hits that included a double, a triple and three home runs. He led the team in RBI with nine and runs scored with eight, doing so out of the lead-off spot in the batting order. He averaged nearly two hits per game and boasted a .955 slugging percentage and a .458 on-base percentage. He added a pair of stolen bases and played an error free centerfield that included 12 put outs and one assist.
PITCHERS
Nathan Lewis, Tarleton State University, SR, P, Burlington, Ontario, Nelson HS
Lewis pitched six perfect innings on Saturday in game one of a doubleheader against UT-Permian Basin. His bid at a perfect game was broken up with a pair of hits in the seventh, but they led to no damage as Lewis picked up with win in the Texans’ 2-0 victory over the Falcons. The senior starter out of Ontario struck out five batters and held opponents to just a .095 batting average in his lone start of the week. Lewis improved his record to 5-1 on the season as Tarleton improved to 24-7 overall.
Chris Rogers, Southwestern Oklahoma State University, SR, P, Oklahoma City, Okla., Westmoore HS
Rogers came on in relief and lifted Southwestern Oklahoma to a 6-5 victory in the second game of the series against Incarnate Word. Rogers came in during the second inning with SWOSU trailing 4-0. He then pitched the next seven and two-thirds innings and allowed just one run on five hits. He struck out four batters and walked two. It was the second time that Rogers has worked seven-plus innings in relief to pick up a win this season.

Texans jump two spots to No. 25 in national rankings - TSU Sports

TUSCON, Ariz. - The NCAA Division II national rankings came out Monday courtesy of Collegiate Baseball Newspaper and Tarleton moved up two spots to No. 25 overall.
The Texans are 24-7 on the year and currently amidst a seven-game winning streak. Last week, Tarleton was No. 27, but they have been as high as No. 15 this season.
With a win over Howard Payne on Tuesday and a three-game sweep of UT-Permian Basin over the weekend, the Texans moved up to No. 25 with 84 points.
West Florida took over the top spot with a 31-4 record, followed by Central Missouri, Mount Olive, Grand Valley St. and Emporia St.
Tarleton is the only Lone Star Conference team in the rankings while Southeastern Oklahoma, West Texas A&M and Incarnate Word received votes.
The Texans defend their No. 25 ranking against Hardin Simmons Tuesday in Abilene.
