Breaking News - Angelo State Head Football Coach Candidates

We requested a list of applicants and candidates for the Angelo State football head coach position.  We just received the following list from Preston Lewis, Director of Communications and Marketing for Angelo State University.

Pursuant to your request, I am providing the list of applicants and candidates that will be considered for interviews:

Joe Cauthen
Has been at Valdosta State since 2007. VSU allowed 17.2 points and 292 yds per game in 2010, 22.4 pts and 343 yds in 2009, 18.6 pts and 305 yds in 2008 and 17.6 pts and 326 yds in 2007. He spent 8 seasons at Texas A&M-Commerce, with his final year's team giving up just 15.1 pts and 258 yds per game. Prior to TAMC, he spent two years at Stephen F. Austin and a year at Trinity Valley Community College.

Adam Dorrel
Offensive coordinator at Northwest Missouri  since 2007.  In 2007, NW averaged 37.4 pts and 441 yds per game.  In 2008, it was 40 pts and 444 yards.  2009 saw the Bearcats average 42.1 pts and 475 yards.  Finally, this season the averages were 34.3 points and 420 yards.  He also coaches the offensive line, a position he began in 2004.

Will Wagner
Wagner has been on the staff at Northwest Missouri since 1998, first as a graduate assistant for two seasons, then full-time as the secondary coach.  He is still the secondary coach, and was name assistant head coach in 2007.  He played his college ball at Hardin Simmons, in Abilene.

Brad Franchione
In his six seasons as head coach at Blinn, the Buccaneers have compiled a 54-13 record with two national championships.  He spent a season at Texas A&M-Commerce in 2004, as the defensive line coach.  He has also had tenures with Bacone, Tennessee-Martin, West Alabama, East Central University, and Fort Scott JC.  He is a graduate of Pittsburg State.

Erik Leuter
Just finished his second year as offensive coordinator and fifth overall at MTU.  In 2010, the Huskies averaged 30.5 pts and 384 yards per game, while in 2009 it was 22.4 pts and 356 yards. Prior to MTU, he was at Adams State for a season as a GA, and at Grand Valley for 2 seasons as an assistant for the offensive line and wide receivers.

Pierce Holt
A two-time All American defensive lineman for Angelo State (1986, 1987), Holt played 8 seasons in the NFL, winning two Super Bowls with the San Francisco 49ers, twice being selected All-Pro, and at one point was the highest paid defensive player in the NFL.  He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1997 and the LSC Hall of Honor in 2000.

the video has good explanation. asu only released the names that were submitted to them, but the better part of the names have been submitted to the search company which doesn't have to release names.
