Ada — East Central University defensive end Armonty Bryant and cornerback Dontae Smith were named to the Daktronics Football 2010 All-Super Region 4 First Team and offensive lineman Carlos Savala was selected for the second team, it was announced Wednesday.
Bryant, a 6-foot, 6-inch, 245-pound sophomore from Wichita Falls, Texas, was third in the nation in NCAA Division II in quarterback sacks at 13.5 for an average of 1.23 per game, which also topped the Lone Star Conference. He was also tied with two others for ninth in the nation in tackles for loss with 19.
Smith, a 6-1, 180 junior out of Deland, Fla., led the LSC in interceptions with six and was tied with 10 others for 11th place in NCAA Division II. He was also twice named LSC North Defensive Player of the Week during the 2010 campaign.
Savala, a 6-6, 315 junior from Fontana, Calif., earned a Daktronics All-Super Region 4 SAecond Team award after recently being named LSC North Offensive Lineman of the Year.
Head coach Tim McCarty named Coach of the Year
ADA — East Central University head football coach Tim McCarty was named LSCScoop.com Coach of the Year while defensive end Armonty Bryant and cornerback Dontae Smith were selected for the website’s All-LSC Scoop Football Team, it was announced Thursday.McCarty was praised for the Tigers’ impressive turnaround from 0-11 in 2009 to a 5-6 finish in 2010, including a 5-1 mark which enabled ECU to capture a share of the LSC North championship.
It was the second straight day in which Bryant and Smith obtained awards.
Bryant, a sophomore from Wichita Falls, Texas, was third in the nation in quarterback sacks while leading the LSC at 13.5 and was tied for ninth with two others in tackles for loss at 19. Bryant was named to the Daktronics All-Super Region 4 Team on Wednesday.
Smith, a junior out of Deland, Fla., was chosen for the All-LSC Scoop Team after leading the LSC with six interceptions and was tied for 11th place with 10 others in NCAA Division II. Smith was also chosen for the Daktronics All-Super Region 4 Team.

Dauntae Williams, University of Central Oklahoma, SR, Guard, Missouri City, Texas, Missouri City HS
Williams led UCO to a split in two road LSC crossover games last week, averaging 28.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.5 steals a game while shooting 58.1 percent (18-of-31) from the field. The senior guard had 32 points, eight rebounds, four assists and two steals in a tough 75-73 loss to Incarnate Word and came back two days later with 24 points, five boards, four assists and three steals as the Bronchos downed Texas A&M-Kingsville 79-66.

SOUTH MEN’S OFFENSIVE
Tracy Robinson, University of the Incarnate Word, SR, Forward, San Antonio, Texas, Sam Houston
Robinson paced Incarnate Word to three wins last week to improve to 7-0 this season, which is the 6th best start in school history. The wins were over long-time rival St. Mary’s and the two favorites in the LSC North, Central Oklahoma and Northeastern State. He was in double-figure scoring in all three including 29 points against UCO, which led the team. Robinson topped the team in rebounds all three games for two double-doubles. His 57 points last week put him just four short of 1,000 in his career.
SOUTH MEN’S DEFENSIVE
Devon Hills, Tarleton State University, SR, Guard, Chico, Calif., Pleasant Valley HS
Hills had 10 defensive rebounds to lead the team in the category as the Texans held their two Lone Star Conference crossover opponents to a .316 shooting percentage from the field. Tarleton outrebounded the two opponents by an average of 45.5 to 31.0. Hills had five defensive rebounds in each game and added a steal per game as well.
NORTH WOMEN’S OFFENSIVE
Bailey Welch, Southeastern Oklahoma State University, SO, Guard, Cashion, Okla., Cashion HS
Welch helped pace Southeastern to a 2-0 week with road wins over Midwestern State and Tarleton State. She averaged 14.5 ppg for the week, posting 15 points against MSU and 14 against TSU. Welch also averaged 7.0 assists per game and had her second double-digit assist game of the season. She was incredibly accurate shooting from the field, hitting 9-13 (69.2 percent) overall, and an even more impressive 4-4 from three-point range. The sophomore also pulled down 3.5 rpg from her guard position.

Alyssa Fuxa, University of Central Oklahoma, JR, Forward, Garber, Okla., Garber HS
Fuxa led UCO’s interior defense that paved the way for a pair of road league crossover wins last week. The junior forward averaged 15.0 points and 10.5 rebounds a game (6.0 defensive) as the Bronchos beat Incarnate Word 71-61 and topped Texas A&M-Kingsville 82-52. Fuxa had 14 points and eight rebounds (three defensive) against UIW as UCO limited the Cardinals to 29 second-half points and she followed with a career-high 13 rebounds (nine defensive) and 16 points in the TAMUK victory when the Bronchos held the Javelinas to 28.3 percent shooting from the field.
SOUTH WOMEN’S OFFENSIVE
Lindsey Mahone, Angelo State University, SO, Forward, Corpus Christi, Texas, Mary Carroll HS
Mahone recorded a career-high 19 points in the Rambelles’ 54-45 victory over Texas Woman’s University Saturday. The Corpus Christi, Texas, native averaged 16.0 points per game and 6.5 rebounds per game. Mahone played an important part in both ASU’s wins last week as she tallied a pair of double-figure performances (13 points, 19 points). Mahone is currently averaging 12.8 ppg and 7.5 rpg on the season.

Jazman Patterson, Midwestern State University, JR, Forward, Southlake, Texas, Carroll HS
Patterson enjoyed her best two-game stretch of her career while helping the Mustangs to a Lone Star Conference crossover split last week against Southeastern Oklahoma and East Central. The junior from Southlake averaged 9.5 points, 13.5 rebounds and two steals a game. She delivered her first double-double of the season with 13 points and a career-high 16 rebounds with two steals in Tuesday’s 80-71 setback against Southeastern Oklahoma. Patterson added six points, 11 rebounds and two steals in the Mustangs’ 80-76 win over East Central on Thursday.
