Another overtime thriller

DURANT — Former pitcher for the Savage Storm baseball team, Nathan Johnson, 23 of Latta, team died Tuesday at the OU Medical Center from brain trauma sustained during a Toughman competition in Oklahoma City over the weekend according to reports.

The Southeastern athletics family was saddened to learn of the passing of former baseball player Nathan Johnson on Tuesday afternoon.

Johnson was a pitcher for the Savage Storm from 2008-09, earning his Bachelor of Science Degree in Occupational Safety and Health in Dec. of 2009.

“The Southeastern Oklahoma baseball team has been saddened this week by the injury and death of Nathan Johnson,” said head coach Mike Metheny. “Nathan was an outstanding pitcher and leader for our baseball team the past two seasons. He was a great Christian young man and an inspiration to all those with whom he came in contact. While we mourn these circumstances, we can truly celebrate Nathan’s life and the many memories as we were blessed to have him as a part of the Southeastern baseball program.”
