Wildcats add one more transfer to 2013 roster - ACU Baseball

ABILENE – ACU assistant baseball coach and recruiting coordinator Brandon Stover announced Tuesday that the Wildcats have added University of Oklahoma transfer Ty Taylor to the 2013 roster.  Taylor is a two-way player who will play any of the three outfield positions and is potentially one of the Wildcats' weekend starting pitchers.

"Ty is an impact two-way guy that immediately makes us better in the OF and on the mound," Stover said.  "We expect big things from him the next 2 seasons and we are excited that he is in our program."

Taylor played in 14 games in the outfield last year for the Sooners, and also pitched in five games.  The Sooners finished 42-25 and reached the South Carolina Super Regional before being swept out of the NCAA tournament by the Gamecocks.  Prior to his one season at OU, Taylor spent his freshman season (2011) at Weatherford College where he pitched and played in the outfield.

NEW ORLEANS — The Southland Conference will make a two-day site visit of the University of New Orleans campus today and Thursday as it continues to evaluate potential member institutions.  Southland Commissioner Tom Burnett will lead a group consisting of administrators from around the league that will meet with campus leadership and athletic department staff, in addition to touring the university's athletic facilities.

In May, the SLC's governing body authorized visits to Abilene Christian, Incarnate Word and UNO. The SLC will visit ACU on Aug. 1. The site visits to the three campuses represent the next step in the formal process set forth by the SLC. ACU and Incarnate Word are both members of the Lone Star Conference, an NCAA Division II conference.

Dullnig Signs with Fort Worth Cats - TAMK Baseball

FORT WORTH, TEXAS – In an attempt to add to an already superb bullpen, the Fort Worth Cats have added Cameron Dullnig (San Antonio/Clark HS). Dullnig was a third team All-American closer for Texas A&M-Kingsville after being credited for a school record 10 saves in 15 appearances. Dulling posted a 0.00 ERA in 20.1 innings of work with 23 strikeouts to just 10 walks and only gave up one extra base hit all season.

Dullnig joins a team that is currently 24-19 on the season and just 1.5 games out of first place in the North American Baseball League South Division. The South Division consists of six teams including the Edinburg Roadrunners, Rio Grande Valley Whitewings, San Angelo Colts, Abilene Prairie Dogs and McAllen Thunder. As a team the Cats have a 3.84 earned run average and are holding opponents to a .268 batting average on the season.

Dullnig is the second Javelina this year to sign a professional contract joining right-handed pitcher Jaden Dillon (Bridge City/Bridge City HS) who was drafted in the 29th round of the Major League Baseball draft in June and is playing for the Macon Braves of the Gulf Coast League. Dillon has a 2.70 ERA in 10.0 innings of work for the Braves.

Dullnig helped lead the Javelinas to an NCAA Division II Regional Tournament appearance in 2012 and was named the Lone Star Conference co-Player of the Year and the NCBWA South Central Region Player of the Year.

Trimble expects 2012 signing class to make impact - MSU Soccer

Midwestern State coach Jeff Trimble announced the signing of 10 prep standouts to National Letters of Intent Tuesday to complete the Mustangs’ 2012 signing class.

“I’m excited about this class,” Trimble said. “They are all smart soccer players with a good mixture of size and speed. We have players who can make an impact as a freshman. They are very hard working and make up a very good soccer playing class.”

The group is blessed with a bevy of midfield talent and a pair of dynamic forwards with many showing the savvy to contribute in multiple positions.
