Growing up the Hard Way: Jeremy Aguilar's Success Story - KRIS TV (with video)
KINGSVILLE - Texas A&M-Kingsville linebacker Jeremy Aguilar has become a star at the Division II level. The Javelina senior recorded a team high 91 tackles including 14 for loss, in 2011, and last year's production has not gone overlooked. Aguilar has been awarded several pre-season accolades, including being named Lone Star conference pre-season player of the year by Dave Campbell's Texas High School Football Magazine.

But it hasn't always been roses for the California product. Aguilar was born and raised in Boyle Heights, a rough neighborhood in Los Angeles County. "I've seen a murder happen when I was probably 15 years old, I've seen one of my good buddies get stabbed a couple times, and I've seen an overdose before. That's just growing up back home.... You just gotta live with it."

It didn't start off well for the star linebacker, who didn't finish high school the traditional way. Instead of walking across the stage, Aguilar earned his GED independently. Now, he is on his way to achieving something for the first time in his family. "Ag", as his teammates like to call him, is planning on earning a college diploma at graduation in December.

LSC Football Festival Tickets Go on Sale Monday - ASU Sports

SAN ANGELO, Texas – Angelo State fans will be able to purchase tickets for the Lone Star Conference Football Festival presented by Firestone held at Cowboys Stadium starting on Monday, July 9 at 1 p.m. at the ASU ticket office or by calling (325) 942-BLUE (2583).  

The LSC Football Festival will pit the Rams against Valdosta State on Saturday at 12 p.m. Tickets for the game will be $25 for adults and $10 for students.  The Rams will be the home team and fans will sit on the South side of the stadium against the Blazers.

A total of six games will be played during three days with the action starting at 7 p.m. as Texas A&M-Commerce will face Midwestern State on Thursday, Sept. 13. Friday will have two games at 3:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. as Incarnate Word and Eastern New Mexico will take the field followed by a high school matchup between Southlake Carroll and Temple. The other two games slated on Saturday will be Tarleton State versus Abilene Christian at 4 p.m. and Texas A&M-Kingsville and West Texas A&M will be the nightcap at 8 p.m. A festival pass is available for all three days to purchase for $35 for adults and $15 for students.

A&M-Commerce sophomores Sara Diaz and Holly Jenkins were named All-American Scholar recipients by the National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) for the 2011-12 season. The teams for Divisions I, II and III were announced today by association officials with a record 585 women's collegiate golfers recognized with this prestigious honor.
