Thomas Parsons tells us that he is very seriously considering enrolling at Texas A&M-Kingsville and playing for the Javelinas. He said he has interest from several other larger programs, but is very impressed with TAMK. Parsons played his high school ball at Smithson Valley, before signing with LSU. He was a redshirt in 2008, and switched to fullback in 2009. He started one game and appeared in four others, but was injured and has not played since then.
***This is unconfirmed*** look for former Blinn All-American linebacker Vernon Brooks to be at Midwestern State this fall. Brooks played in five games for the Jayhawks in 2009, registering 5 tackles. He earned 1st team NJCAA All American honors at Blinn JC in 2008, registering 50 tackles, with 4.5 sacks.
Fenske named as 2012 Allstate Good Works Team nominee - TSU Football
NORTHBROOK, Ill. - The American Football Coaches Association in partnership with
Allstate Insurance announced their nominees for the 2012 Good Works Team.
Tarleton senior quarterback Jake Fenske was named as a nominee for the
award.
Fenske has spent four years as a member of the Texans, but it has been his numerous philanthropic activities off the field that earned him a nod by the committee. The Round Rock native has spent hours working on community service projects, church events, and other activities that take time and effort outside of football.
The Allstate AFCA Good Works Team is a group of young men at all levels of collegiate football that have displayed significant contribution both for the football program and in the community.
" Since 1992, the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team® has shown a spotlight on the countless “good works” and remarkable stories of service by student-athletes at all levels of college football competition. Award recipients represent the sport’s finest in terms of character and leadership in the community."
The 2012 award winners will be announced in September.
"Nobody has done more for this program than Jake off the field," said Head Coach Cary Fowler. "His actions and willingness to give back are what Tarleton football is all about. I am excited for him and just to be nominated is a great accomplishment."

Conger pupil Fife set to make MLB debut - TSU Baseball
Tarleton baseball head coach Bryan Conger knows a thing or two about pitching,
but his current role is one of teaching those skills to future players. Tuesday
night will see a former player of Conger's Stephen Fife make his major league
debut for the Los Angeles Dodgers against the Philadelphia
Phillies.
Fife, a 2008 third-round pick of the Boston Red Sox, played for Conger during his stint as the pitching coach at Utah. Since then, the Boise, Idaho native has gone through the minor leagues, making his way to the Dodgers.

Saenz Signs with Javelinas - TAMK W Tennis
KINGSVILLE, TEXAS – Texas A&M-Kingsville head women’s tennis coach Josh
Moore signed Paula Saenz to a National Letter of Intent on
Wednesday.
Saenz was born in Bogota, Colombia and played junior tennis in Costa Rica before finally moving to Hamilton, Ontario in Canada. In junior tennis, she was ranked #1 in the U12 and U14 divisions in Costa Rica. She reached a ranking of #4 in the U16 division at the age of 14.
Saenz moved to Canada for high school and graduated from Cathedral High School. She was a two-time state finalist and helped lead her team to four state playoff appearances. In Canada, she was ranked in the top 30 in the U16 division as a 15-year old and in the top 20 as a 16-year old. She was ranked in the top 30 in the U18 division for two straight years.
Saenz is the daughter of Edgar Saenz and Yolanda Riano and plans to study animal science with a minor in biology. She is the sixth signee for Moore this year with all six coming from different countries including the United States, Ecuador, Kyrgyzstan, Bulgaria and Mexico.

Lawson finishes in the top eight at the OGA
State Amateur - CU Golf
Cameron’s Trey Lawson played some of the best golf in his career during the last two days in the OGA State Amateur Tournament finishing in the top eight after falling to Tyler Carson on the final hole in today’s quarterfinal at the Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa.
Lawson fell behind early being two holes down after three played. From hole four through 11 he controlled the match going up two holes with seven left. A bogey on 12, par on 13, bogey on 14 put Lawson back one until the 17th hole which he won to even the match with one left to play.
The match came down to the wire on the most difficult par four at the course where Lawson bogeyed and Carson hit par for the hole to advance in the tournament.
“I’m sure he is quite disappointed because you are so close to make it into the semifinals which would have been really something but to play on a course like that he will never forget the experience,” said head coach Jerry Hrnciar. “He should be pleased about his performance, because I am.”
“Trey is really stepping forward and doing what I would like to see done this summer and I am really looking forward to a great senior year from him at Cameron.”
Lawson will be a part of a Cameron men’s golf team that won the 2012 Lone Star Conference Championship looking to repeat in the spring and qualified for last year’s NCAA Division II Championship tournament finishing 39th.
