Football Roundup 11-12

From the Bullpen (Nov. 12)
If history is repeating itself, the Lone Star Conference could have
its first NCAA Division II national championship in football since then
Southwest Texas State won back-to-back titles in 1981 and 1982 — the first two
seasons the conference played exclusively in D-II.


Leaf squanders chance to put woes behind him
Ryan Leaf got a second chance at West Texas A&M. That chance to
put his turbulent past behind him unraveled last week with accusations he
obtained prescription meds from a player. First he obtained a leave of absence.
Then he resigned.

Selfless seniors
If one looks up the definition of "selfless" in the dictionary, one
would probably see the pictures of Northeastern State University football
players Jarrett Byers and Broderick Mondy.


Search is on for ECU's next head football coach
East Central University president Dr. Richard Rafes finally made it
official late last week in a short release from the school’s information office.
Kurt Nichols was out as football coach. Thanks for the effort, Kurt. Time to
move on.
