ACU has too many weapons for West Texas A&M

Sorry West Texas A&M. This is the year the Abilene Christian University
Wildcats win it all. They're certainly better than the Buffaloes.

Why? Well, for starters, the offense is loaded with weapons. A defense
must basically pick its poison. You can try stopping running back Bernard Scott,
the best player in Division II football, and dare ACU to beat you in the air.
The only problem with that is the fact quarterback Billy Malone has a lot of
great receivers in Johnny Knox, Edmund Gates and Jonathan Ferguson, just to name a few.

Wildcats, Buffs meet yet again

The fact that the Abilene Christian University Wildcats and West
Texas A&M Buffaloes are meeting in yet another big game should come as no
surprise.
Recent seasons have seen the teams have battle for supremacy in the
Lone Star Conference South Division as well as spots in the NCAA Division II
playoff field.

A second chance

Even though he wears purple and white, Abilene Christian running back Bernard
Scott should be appreciated by West Texas A&M fans.

Scott has displaced one of the Lone Star Conference's top runners, former Wildcats standout Wilbert Montgomery, in the record book. Montgomery led ACU to the 1973 NAIA national championship and was an All-Pro while playing for the Philadelphia Eagles. In two seasons, Scott, the Harlon Hill Award runnerup last year and one of eight finalists this year, has rushed for 3,860 yards and 55 touchdowns.

Buffs likely to see more school, LSC records fall

Goal 1 today in Abilene for West Texas A&M is winning the game and advancing
to the NCAA Division II quarterfinals for the first time.

But there also are more records to be broken.

Last year's clutch player looking forward to game

West Texas A&M was clinging to a one-touchdown lead against ACU last year
and going through players like Congress through bailout plans. On defense, WT's
need was so great that redshirt freshman Derrick Peoples was called to duty in
the middle of the line.

Peoples held his own and was part of a key tackle that helped the Buffs exit Shotwell Stadium with a 41-31 victory over the Wildcats. As it turned out, it was the fewest points ACU scored all season.

Buffs must contain ACU trio to achieve playoff first

Faster than a speeding bullet. More powerful than a locomotive. Able to
leap tall buildings in a single bound.

Superman?

Nah, just Abilene Christian's trio of Johnny Knox, Billy Malone and Bernard
Scott. They are super men.
