Joseph Thompson, Sam Collins and the rest of the guys on the Abilene Christian University offensive line don't get much attention -- unless quarterback Billy Malone is sacked or running back Bernard Scott is stuffed behind the line of scrimmage. Fortunately, that doesn't happen very often.
In fact, Malone and Scott have put up unbelievable numbers this season. But none of it would be possible without the work of the offensive line, and yet those guys who toil in the trenches do so with little fanfare.
That's OK with Thompson, a three-year starter.
"We win, we're happy," he said. "If I can make a comparison, I think we're like the wheels that turn in the machine. The machine gets all the credit for doing the things, but the wheels are in there doing their job, continuing to work, continuing to work."
