INDIANAPOLIS -- The NCAA Division II Men’s and Women’s Track and Field Committee announced the participants for the 2011 NCAA Division II Men’s and Women’s Indoor Track and Field Championships.
A total of 400 participants -- 200 men and 200 women -- will compete in the championships. Student-athletes qualified by reaching the automatic and provisional standards established for each event.
The championships will be held March 11-12 in Albuquerque, N.M., at the Albuquerque Convention Center. Adams State College and the Albuquerque Convention & Visitors Bureau will serve as co-hosts of the championships.

Both days of the Division II Men’s and Women’s Indoor Track and Field Championships will be streamed live on NCAA.com. Highlights of the championships will be shown at 2 p.m. ET on April 30 on CBS. The seasonal show features highlights of 18 different NCAA championships that took place during the winter.

HITTERS
Jess Cooper, West Texas A&M University, JR, Belle Fourche, SD, Belle Fourche HS
Cooper continued his hot hitting efforts as the Buffs went 4-0 this past week with a four-game sweep against NW Missouri State. Cooper hit .706 with two doubles, a triple, three homeruns and nine RBI for a slugging percentage of 1.471. The Buffs are currently 14-2 overall, the best start to a season in program history. They are also on a nine game win streak coming into this weekend's matchup with #16 Cameron in Canyon.
Edwin Mendoza, Southwestern Oklahoma State University, JR, Riverside, CA, Riverside JC
Mendoza hit .471 with two home runs in a week in which Southwestern Oklahoma State University went 5-0 with victories over Mid America Christian and Central Oklahoma. Mendoza hit home runs in a 9-8 win over MACU and a 6-5 win against UCO, both of which were the margin of victory. Through 13 games this season, he leads SWOSU in hitting with a .378 average and in doubles with four.
PITCHERS
Miguel Ramirez, Tarleton State University, SR, Gallup, N.M., Gallup H.S.
Ramirez tossed a complete game, shutout against A&M-Kingsville in game one of their double-header on Saturday. With nine strikeouts and just one walk, Ramirez blanked the Javelinas for his second complete game of the season. After earning the victory, the senior right-hander now has a perfect 3-0 record and a 0.44 ERA on the year.
Jeremy Guest, Southwestern Oklahoma State University, JR, Collinsville, OK, Rose State JC
Guest tossed seven and two-thirds inning of shutout ball in Southwestern Oklahoma State University's 6-0 win over rival Central Oklahoma in the first game of a three-game series. Guess allowed just three hits and struck out four before yielding to the bullpen midway through the eighth. The win was Guest's first of the season and lowered his ERA to 3.00 through 12 innings of work.
OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Justin Gibson, East Central University, batted .455 (5-of-11) with a triple and four runs batted in as ECU went 2-2 in four games last week. Gibson had a .636 slugging percentage and a .625 on-base percentage as he not only collected five hits, but drew three walks and was hit by two pitches while batting in the team's leadoff spot. He had an RBI triple and scored three times in a 9-8 win over Arkansas-Fort Smith and was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored in the Tigers' 8-7 victory over Angelo State. He also stole five bases in seven attempts during that four-game stretch.
Zach Cohen, Angelo State University, hit .500 (6-for-12) last week to help the Rams win two games of a three-game series at East Central. The Rams' lead-off hitter drove in six runs, scored four times and laced one double to help Angelo State out-score East Central 30-13. Cohen went 1-for-3 with a run scored and two RBIs in game one, was 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI in game two, and finished game three going 3-for-5 with three runs batted in and two runs scored. The Houston, Texas native accounted for 10 of the Rams' 30 runs in the three games. Cohen is hitting .360 on the season and leads the squad with 15 runs.
Chris Casazza, Tarleton State University, drove in a team-high seven runs in three games, including a pair of three-run home runs in back-to-back games versus A&M-Kingsville Saturday. Casazza, who leads the Texans with 15 RBI’s on the year, hit his third and fourth home runs of the season in the double-header sweep of the Javelinas. He batted .300 during the three-game stretch, scored four runs, and recorded an impressive .900 slugging percentage. The senior utility player also stole a base and posted a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage, to go along with a walk and to hit-by-pitches.
Chase Larsson, Cameron University, was an offensive juggernaut in the three-game LSC series with Eastern New Mexico over the weekend. The Vancouver, British Columbia native powered out eight hits, of which only two were for less than extra bases, six RBIs while striking out just once. He sent three balls over the fence and tallied three doubles on the weekend while tallying a monstrous .727 batting average to go with a 1.818 slugging percentage. The Aggies swept the Greyhounds by a combined 29-6 including a 16-3 thumping in the series finale on Saturday.
Joe Huwer, Eastern New Mexico University, batted .500 in the Greyhounds series against 16th-ranked Cameron. He had multiple hits in the first two games of the series and did not allow a stolen base.
Bryant Rutledge, Angelo State University, turned in a solid performance en route to an 11-0 victory over East Central Friday afternoon in Ada, Okla. Rutledge combined with reliever Craig Blair to pitch Angelo State's first shutout victory of the season. The junior from Frisco, Texas, collected the win after scattering five hits in 6.0 innings of work. He walked two batters and fanned six, limiting the Tigers to a .217 batting average. Rutledge allowed just two extra-base hits and faced 25 batters in the contest. His performance set the tone for the Rams who went on to out-score East Central 30-10 in three games and come away with a pair of wins.
Ricky Cramer, Cameron University, got the Homecoming weekend started on the right foot with a complete game shutout performance against the Eastern New Mexico Greyhounds on Friday. Cramer pitched his way through the Greyhound lineup with ease, scattering just seven hits over nine complete innings while striking out four and allowing just one extra base hit. Opponents batted a dismal .212 off the Stillwater, Okla. native. Cramer led the Aggies to a 5-0 win in the opening game of the series as the Aggies went on to sweep the Greyhounds by a combined 29-6. As a staff, the Aggies were a slim 2.35 ERA group.
Anthony Smith, Eastern New Mexico University, Anthony Smith limited 16th-ranked Cameron to two earned runs in the second game of Eastern's series in Lawton. He finished with seven strike outs and just one walk.

Angelo State
The Rams took two out of three games at East Central last week as they out-scored the Tigers 30-13. Angelo State hit .326 with nine doubles, a triple, a home run and seven stolen bases. The Rams were led by lefty Bryant Rutledge who combined with right-hander Craig Blair to toss a five-hit shutout in game one en route to an 11-0 victory. The Rams' Zach Cohen went 6-for-12 to hit .500 in the three-game series, driving in six runs and scoring four times. Brian Brademan hit .600 with an RBI, while Joseph Leftridge finished the series batting .385 with four RBIs, three runs and a pair of stolen bases. Angelo State will host Southeastern Oklahoma this weekend in a three-game LSC series beginning Friday, March 4, at 7 p.m.

Junior left-hander Jeremy Custer has a 2-2 record with a 2.33 earned run average this season. He has struck out 14 batters and walked just three in 27 innings of work this season...Justin Gibson's .424 average tops the squad as he leads the team in total hits (14) and runs scored (14) while hitting in the leadoff spot. He has stolen eight bases in 12 tries this year. Ethan Gold (with a .355 batting average) and Dylan Mascarenas (.308) share the RBI lead with eight apiece.
Eastern New Mexico
The Greyhounds dropped a Lone Star Conference series at 16th-ranked Cameron, but received strong pitching performances from Andrew Martin and Anthony Smith. Both pitchers allowed two earned runs each and combined for 10 strike outs. This week, the Greyhounds will host Southwestern Oklahoma State.

Southwestern Oklahoma
Southwestern Oklahoma State University ran its win streak to nine straight games winning all five games it played this week. The Bulldogs were 10-5 and 9-8 winners against Mid America Christian and then swept rival Central Oklahoma, 6-0, 9-4 and 6-5. SWOSU, now 10-4 overall and 8-4 in the Lone Star Conference, will play all of its games on the road this week. First up will be a doubleheader against St. Gregory's on Tuesday followed by a three-game set against Eastern New Mexico beginning Friday in Portales, NM.
Tarleton State
The Texan baseball team picked up a trio of wins with a series sweep of A&M-Kingsville this past weekend. Tarleton improved their record to 10-2 on the year and 7-2 in the Lone Star Conference. Last Week As a team, Tarleton hit a .233 average compared to opponents’ .217 average. They also posted a .359 on-base percentage and a .430 slugging percentage. Landon McCall led the way, hitting .455 with five runs scored, while Tim Rainey hit a .444 average and Mark Jeffery hit a .375 average. Chris Casazza recorded seven RBI’s to go with his .300 average and .900 slugging percentage. The Texans out-scored the Javelinas 22-3 in the three-game series. Tarleton’s pitching staff recorded just a 1.17 ERA, while striking out 26 batters. Together, they only allowed three runs and seven walks the entire weekend. Miguel Ramirez led the way with a complete game, shutout in the first game on Saturday, while striking out nine batters. Brandy Greer and Nathan Lewis also earned victories for the Texans. Greer picked his up with three shutout innings of relief in the third game of the series, while Lewis gave up just three runs and struck out eight in 7 1/3 innings of game one. This Week The Texans head to Austin Tuesday for a meeting with St. Edward’s before returning home for a three-game set with East Central on Friday and Saturday.
Texas A&M-Kingsville
The Javelinas entered the week receiving votes in both the NCBWA and Collegiate Baseball News national polls. They will likely drop out after being swept by Tarleton State. The Texans shut out the Hogs in the final two games of the series. It was the first time the Javs have been shut out in back-to-back games since St. Mary's turned the trick on March 20, 2002.
West Texas A&M
The Buffs went 6-0 this past week, sweeping University of the Southwest and taking all four games from Northwest Missouri State at Wilder Park in Canyon. The Buffs are currently 14-2 overall, the best start to a season in program history. They are also on a nine game win streak coming into this weekend's matchup with #16 Cameron in Canyon.

PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
NORTH HITTER
Leslie Martini, Cameron University, SO, CF, Moore, Okla., Moore HS
Martini led the Aggies to a 3-1 record at the Missouri Southern Border Battle over the weekend. The Moore, Okla. native leads the team in batting average (.411) but had an even more explosive weekend as she hit for a .455 clip with a .571 on base percentage. Her .727 slugging percentage was tops among her teammates and she added offensive base running to her stellar repertoire. She had five hits including one home run and knocked in seven runs.
NORTH PITCHER
Carrie Harvey, Cameron University, JR, RHP, Burkburnett, Texas, Burkburnett HS
Harvey pitched her team to a 3-1 record at the Missouri Southern tournament including a shutout performance against Top 30 Emporia State. The Burkburnett, Texas native scattered 15 hits over 21 innings while striking out an impressive 31 batters. Opponents hit for just a .197 clip against her as she finished her four game weekend with a 3-1 record and 2.67 ERA. She tossed two shutouts in three complete games.
SOUTH HITTER
Kaitlyn Witte, West Texas A&M University, SR, INF/DP, Midland, Texas, Midland Lee HS
Witte hit .643 with nine RBI and six runs scored as the #7 Lady Buffs went 6-0 this past week, sweeping a doubleheader at New Mexico Highlands and taking four games from Central Oklahoma and Texas A&M-International at the WTAMU Triangular in Canyon. The Lady Buffs are currently on a 10 game win streak and are off to the best start in program history.
SOUTH PITCHER
Claire Molina, Angelo State University, JR, Pitcher, San Bernardino, Calif., Colton HS
ASU dipped into its bullpen this past weekend against St. Edward’s and Claire Molina rose to the challenge. Molina, the junior from San Bernardino, Calif., came into game one trailing, 4-2, in the sixth inning and pitched three shutout innings as the No. 2 ‘Belles clawed back to earn a 5-4 win in the bottom of the eighth inning. In game two, Molina entered in with the game knotted at 1-1, and pitched two more shutout-innings, allowing just one hit, as ASU earned a 2-1 win in the bottom of the eighth for the second-consecutive contest.
OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Whitney Harris, East Central University, batted .421 (8-of-19) with three doubles, two runs batted in and five runs scored as ECU went 5-1 in a six-game stretch last week. She went 2-for-4 with a run-scoring single and double in a 10-2 win over Eastern New Mexico and was 2-for-2 in a 5-4 extra-inning win over Texas Permian Basin. For the season, Harris is hitting .361 with five doubles, seven RBIs and seven runs scored.
Randee Crockett, East Central University, posted a 2-0 record on the week in three pitching appearances with a 2.12 earned run average. Included in that was a complete-game, one-hit shutout of Eastern New Mexico as she allowed just one walk and struck out 11. She was also the winning pitcher in an 8-2 victory over the University of Science & Arts of Oklahoma when she gave up only two earned runs off five hits with just two walks and 10 strikeouts. In her three pitching appearances on the week, she struck out 24 batters and walked only three.
Samantha Emms, Eastern New Mexico University, split time at second base, catcher and designated player, last week at the Texas-Permian Basin Triangular. She led the Zias with a .500 batting average and registered a perfect fielding percentage. On Saturday against East Central, she batted two-for-three and drove in a run. Emms also had a base hit against Texas-Permian Basin.
Kaycee Bryan, Texas A&M University - Kingsville, swung a big bat in the Javelinas’ doubleheader sweep of St. Mary’s. She went 3-for-7 with two runs, two RBI’s, a triple and a stolen base. In the second game, she scored the first run of the game and then drove in a pair of runs with a triple in the second inning. It proved to be the game-winning RBI.
Katie Hines, Texas Woman’s University, batter over .400 to help the Pioneers to a 4-1 record during the week. She drove in five runs on two homeruns and one double. Hines recorded a .824 slugging percentage and .412 on base percentage. She also pitched in three game while making two starts and picked up two wins. Hines struck out eight batters in 12 innings. In her first career start as a pitcher she allowed just one run while striking out five in five innings against Ouachita Baptist. On offensive she drove in two runs and scored two in a 9-1 victory. On the season she has 8 RBI, 4 homeruns and 10 runs while batting .429.
Amanda Arriaga, Texas A&M University - Kingsville, was outstanding in a doubleheader sweep of St. Mary’s. She notched her first shutout of the season with a 2-hit gem in the first game, a 2-0 win. She walked one and struck out eight in the victory. She came back in the second game and was one pitch away from another shutout, but was tagged for a home run. She buckled down allowing only six hits and no walks while striking out three. She held her opponents to a .157 batting average and posted a 0.50 ERA.
Lizzy Kelly, Texas Woman’s University, picked up two more wins during the week and has four wins on the season. She held the opponents to .229 batting average and allowed just one earned run. On the season, Kelly has a team best 1.59 ERA and 4-0 record. She struck out 10 batters in 22 innings this season.
Shelbey Cockrell, West Texas A&M University, went 4-0 this past week with a 2.17 ERA and 31 strikeouts as the #7 Lady Buffs went 6-0 with a doubleheader sweep at New Mexico Highlands and a four game sweep at the WTAMU Triangular against Central Oklahoma and Texas A&M-International. The Lady Buffs are currently 14-1 overall, which is the best start in program history... They are also on a 10 game win streak and are undefeated at home this season.
Erin Roufosse, Eastern New Mexico University, appeared in all four of the Zias games last week, pitching 18.2 of the 28.1 innings. On Friday, she pitched 2.2 innings against Texas-Permian Basin and allowed two hits to pick up the win.

Abilene Christian ACU struggled going 1-3 over the last week dropping a double-header to St. Mary’s and split a pair of games with St. Edward’s … the Wildcats did get strong pitching performances over the weekend including senior Brittany Rexroat who picked up her 5th win of the season and second over St. Edward’s … Rexroat has moved into the ace role for the Wildcats currently with a 4.30 ERA in 44 innings … the Wildcats pitching staff has been efficient striking out 66 batters while only walking 60 led in the category by Shelby Hall … Hall leads the team in strike outs with 24 and has only walked 10 batters … ACU as a team is hitting just below the .300 mark at .290 however, opponents are hitting .338 ... at the plate the Wildcats are still led by Valentina Nabayan who has moved to the designated player role and fell under .400 for the first time this season and extended her hit streak to 5 games, the longest and current streak for the ACU … Nabayan leads the Wildcats with 5 homeruns which is also tied for third most in the conference
Angelo State The nationally ranked Angelo State softball team earned two extra-inning wins against St. Edward’s this past week and improved to 17-0 on the year. This marks the second best start in school history behind the 2003 season where the Rambelles opened with a 19-0 record. With the pair of victories, ASU is now 68-7 in the month of February dating back to 2008.

Central Oklahoma
East Central The ECU pitching staff has a combined earned run of average of 1.09. Randee Crockett is 5-0 on the season with a 0.95 ERA. Wanda Malone is 5-2 with a 1.44 ERA and reliever Cassandra Nordie is 1-0 with a 0.50 ERA. That trio has combined for 110 strikeouts and only 30 walks. Malone has fanned 55 and walked 18, Crockett has struck out 44 and walked only seven and Nordie has 11 strikeouts and issued just five free passes...First baseman Emily Kennemer has a .421 batting average and tops the team in runs batted in (10), homers (3), doubles (6) and walks (7). She also has one triple and has struck out only twice this year. Teammate and second baseman Whitney Harris has a .361 average with five doubles and seven RBIs. Outfielder Brandi Goodrich (.333) and shortstop Shelby Simmons (.314) are also hitting over .300...Cami Correa is second on the squad in homers with two and has a .300 batting average.
Eastern New Mexico The Zias went nine innings to earn a 6-5 win over Texas-Permian Basin, but dropped two games to East Central and fell to UTPB on a walk-off squeeze bunt in the rematch. Erin Rofousse pitched 18.2 of Eastern’s 28.1 innings, while Samantha Emms batted .500. This week, the Zias will participate in the West Texas A&M Tournament.

Amanda Arriaga was outstanding in a doubleheader sweep of St. Mary’s. She notched her first shutout of the season with a 2-hit gem in the first game, a 2-0 win. She walked one and struck out eight in the victory. She came back in the second game and was one pitch away from another shutout, but was tagged for a home run. She buckled down allowing only six hits and no walks while striking out three. She held her opponents to a .157 batting average and posted a 0.50 ERA. Arriaga was a help at the plate. In the first game she drove in the first run and scored the second run accounting for both. In the second game, she extended her hitting streak to six games with a single and scored a run. Kaycee Bryan swung a big bat in the Javelinas’ doubleheader sweep of St. Mary’s. She went 3-for-7 with two runs, two RBI’s, a triple and a stolen base. In the second game, she scored the first run of the game and then drove in a pair of runs with a triple in the second inning. It proved to be the game-winning RBI. Lindsey Brown returned to the lineup after missing eight games with an injury. She smoked a double in the first game and walked and scored a run in the second game. She has seven doubles in only 33 at bats this year. The team travels to Arkansas this weekend for doubleheaders at Ouachita Baptist and Henderson State.
Texas Woman’s The Pioneers posted a 4-1 record last week to improve their season record to 8-5. Sophomore Jordan Readicker led the team with seven RBI on three homeruns and one double. Freshman Katie Hines also drove in five runs and on two homeruns and a double. She also picked up two win in the circle and struck out eight batters. The Pioneers stole 18 more bases this week to make it 39-for-41 on the season. Freshman Bailey Vrazel leads the team with 16.
West Texas A&M The #7 Lady Buffs went 6-0 this past week, sweeping New Mexico Highlands on the road and taking four games from Central Oklahoma and Texas A&M-International at the WTAMU Triangular in Canyon. The Lady Buffs are currently 14-1 overall, the best start to a season in program history. They are also on a 10 game win streak and are undefeated at home. WT hosts the Lady Buff Invite this weekend with Washburn and Eastern New Mexico coming to Lady Buff Yard.
