EDMOND, Okla. – With the score tied at 38 with 11 minutes left in the contest, Midwestern State outscored No. 17 Tarleton 26-13 through the rest of the period to take a 64-51 win and advance to the second round of the South Central Region Tournament in Edmond, Okla.
The Mustangs improved to 23-8 while shooting 40.9 percent from the field Saturday in Hamilton Field House while holding the Texans to just 29.8 percent from the floor.
Chris Hagan scored all 21 of his points in the second half to lead MSU while Michael Loyd added 10 points. Charlie Logan led the team with six rebounds as MSU outrebounded Tarleton, 38-35.
The Texans (24-6) were led by Fabian Wilson with 16 points and Corin Henry with 11 points. Donta Smith and Wes Dipprey topped the team with seven rebounds apiece.
