MEN’S TRACK
Tim Price, Texas A&M University - Kingsville, FR, Corpus Christi, Texas, Carroll HS
Price was dominant at the IBC Bank Cactus Cup on Saturday. He won a pair of individual events and was part of a winning relay. He won the 100-meter dash in 10.51 to provisionally qualify for nationals with the third best time in the nation. He came back and won the 200-meter dash in a time of 21.54. He also ran the third leg on the winning 4x100-meter relay team that clocked a 41.43.

MEN’S FIELD
Trevor Rogers, Angelo State University, JR, El Sobrante, Calif., De Anza HS
Rogers continued his undefeated roll in the long jump, leaping a season-best 24’8.5” to win at the IBC Bank Cactus Cup in Kingsville, Texas, on Saturday (3/19). The jump, second-best in the nation this season and tops among LSC athletes, improved on his previous NCAA provisional qualifying jump and was just shy of an automatic qualifying mark. Rogers has won all three of the long jump events he has entered during the outdoor season and has won five in a row including the two indoor events he participated in.

WOMEN’S TRACK
Bree Bennett, Angelo State University, JR, Decatur, Ga., Decatur HS
Angelo State dominated the 100-meter hurdles at the IBC Bank Cactus Cup Saturday (3/19) with Bennett, Cathryn Rittenberry and Summer Sutherland finishing first, second and third, respectively. Bennett scorched across the finish line in 13.90 seconds, the top time in the Lone Star Conference this season and an NCAA Division II provisional qualifying mark had the wind not been so strong. Bennett’s previous non-wind aided 13.94 was the previous best time in the conference and the only league mark less than 14.5 seconds.

CO-WOMEN’S FIELD
Samantha Alvarez, Texas A&M University - Kingsville, SO, Victoria, Texas, Memorial HS
Alvarez had an outstanding performance in the IBC Bank Cactus Cup. First, she won the high jump with a career best clearance of 5-7.25 which provisionally qualifies her for nationals and is the third best jump in the nation this year. She bounced back with a third place finish in the pole vault clearing 11-0.75. It was the third time she has eclipsed 11 feet this year. She also competed in the javelin for the first time this year and tossed it 114-8.

Kelsey Wilson, Angelo State University, JR, Rocksprings, Texas, Rocksprings HS
Wilson turned the frustration of a disappointing performance at the 2011 NCAA Division II Indoor National Championships into the best outdoor pole vault in the country this season. The junior from Rocksprings vaulted 12’4.5” to win the event at the IBC Bank Cactus Cup in Kingsville, Texas, Saturday (3/19) - the best vault in the Lone Star Conference and nation entering this weekend’s competition. The leap was a collegiate best for Wilson, three inches higher than her indoor high set earlier this season.
