In possibly the final meeting at San Angelo Stadium between Abilene Christian (2-2, 1-1) and Angelo State (2-2, 1-0), the Rams upset the #19 Wildcats 28-23 in Lone Star Conference play.
ASU quarterback Blake Hamblin completed 33 of 48 passes for 274 yards and a touchdown and ran for another score. Joey Knight had seven catches for 77 yards and a score while Dakarai Pecikonis had seven receptions for 51 yards and two carries for 39 yards. (Click here for complete release)
Midwestern State 45, Texas A&M-Kingsville 28
Keidrick Jackson rushed for 156 yards and four touchdowns as No. 15 Midwestern State rolled to a 45-28 win over Texas A&M-Kingsville Saturday night at Javelina Stadium.
The Mustangs, who improved to 2-1 on the season, plays Incarnate Word in their home opener Saturday at Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
The Midwestern offense chewed up 615 total yards including 421 on the ground as Jackson and sophomore running back Jimmy Pipkin (113 yards on nine carries) broke over the century mark. (Click here for complete release)
Tarleton State 35, Eastern New Mexico 23
Vaughn Smith (RB, Jr, Menlo Park, Calif.) and Zach Henshaw (RB, Fr, Fischer) both rushed for more than 100 yards, while the Tarleton offense put-up its second-straight 500-yard game on the way to a 35-23 win over Eastern New Mexico in front of 6,437 fans at Tarleton Memorial Stadium in Stephenville on Saturday.
Smith and Henshaw each surpasses the 100-yard barrier for the first time in their Tarleton careers, and it was the first time two Texan backs rushed for 100 yards or more in the same game since Sept. 12, 2009 (Roderick Smith, 204; Evan Robertson, 115). That same night was the last time a Tarleton team rushed for more than 300 yards in a game as the Texans netted 324 yards on the ground tonight. (Click here for complete release)

The 25th-ranked West Texas A&M football team used a strong defensive performance Saturday night en route to a 24-0 win at University of the Incarnate Word. With the win, the Buffs improve to 3-1 on the year and 2-0 in the Lone Star Conference, while UIW falls to 1-3 and 0-2 in conference play.
The defense held UIW to just 146 yards of offense and a total of 15 yards rushing, along with recording a season-high eight sacks. WT junior linebacker Kyle Voss had a game-high 14 tackles with two sacks and three tackles for loss for 15 yards. In all, the defense had 13 tackles for loss for 81 yards, as well as forcing a fumble and an interception. (Click here for complete release)
