LSC SOCCER
Lone Star Conference action carries on for both the men and women. Incarnate Word is leading the men’s standings after a double-overtime victory over Midwestern State. On the women’s side, West Texas A&M has 12 points to top the league, followed by Texas Woman’s and Angelo State.
LSC men’s soccer teams are 22-7-3 overall this season. The squads are currently 4-3-1 combined versus Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference teams, and 8-2-1 against the Heartland Conference, which are the other conferences in the NCAA South Central Region.
The women’s teams are 24-35-4 overall this season. The squads are currently 2-9-1 combined versus Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference teams, and 2-4 against the Heartland Conference, which are the other conferences in the NCAA South Central Region.

PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
MEN’S OFFENSIVE
Vincent Bailey, University of the Incarnate Word, JR, Mid, Southport, Eng., Savio
Bailey had a week to remember leading the Cardinals to a pair of victories. He led the team back from a pair of deficits at #13 Midwestern State to lead the team to a 3-2 victory. He tied the game at 2-2 with 1:51 left in regulation and then finished off his hat-trick in the second overtime. It was MSU’s first home loss in 45 games. On Sunday, he scored on a penalty kick in a 2-0 win over previously unbeaten Wayland Baptist. He finished with four goals for the week giving him nine on the season.

MEN’S DEFENSIVE
Jarred Kahan, University of the Incarnate Word, JR, Houston, Texas, Clearbrook HS
Kahan led the Cardinals to a 2-0 week against top competition. First, he made five saves in a 3-2 double overtime victory against #13 Midwestern State. It was the first loss by MSU at home in 45 matches. He came back with his fourth shutout of the season in a 2-0 win at previously unbeaten Wayland Baptist.

WOMEN’S OFFENSIVE
Leslie Briggs, West Texas A&M University, SR, Forward, Carrollton, Texas, Dallas Parish Episcopal
Briggs led the team with two goals and to a 2-0 record last week with wins at Midwestern State and at Abilene Christian to keep the Lady Buffs atop the Lone Star Conference. Had the game-winner, her first of the season, with 16 seconds remaining in the first overtime (99:44) for a 2-1 win at Midwestern State Friday. It was the first regular season road win at MSU since 2002. She had the game-tying assist in the 74th minute and followed with the first goal and second goal assist on Sunday at Abilene Christian. It was the first road conference weekend sweep for the Lady Buffs since 2009. It also was the first road win in school history at Abilene Christian.

WOMEN’S DEFENSIVE
Yvette Bedoy, West Texas A&M University, JR, Garland, Texas, South Garland HS
Bedoy paced the Lady Buffs to two huge road wins over the weekend at Midwestern State and at Abilene Christian. Played all 189:44 minutes allowing just two goals for 0.95 goals against average for the week. Had 18 saves, including 10 at Abilene Christian for the second-most in a match for her this season. Bedoy has 134 saves for her career which is fifth-best in school history. It was the first road win at Midwestern State since 2002 and first road win at Abilene Christian in school history. It also was the first road conference regular season sweep since 2009.
