Afternoon Update 5-12

ASU to Send 23 to National Meet
Nearly two dozen student-athletes will represent Angelo State at the 2009 NCAA Division II Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field National Championships, May 21-23 at the LeGrand Sports Complex in San Angelo.

Thirteen Rams and 10 Rambelles will be competing in front of the home crowd as Angelo State serves as the host of the event for the fifth time in school history. ASU also hosted the national meet in 1988, 1991, 1992 and 2002. For a complete list of men's qualifiers, click here. For women, click here.


Darby inks with Tiger men's basketball

ADA – East Central University men’s head basketball coach Terry Shannon has signed his fourth junior college player and sixth overall in Denarius Darby, it was announced Tuesday.

Darby, a 6-2 guard out of Abbeville, La., will transfer in from Brown Mackie Junior College in Salina, Kan., where he averaged 12 points, 3 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.6 steals this past year.

He enters the program as a junior for the 2009-10 season.
