PORTALES, N.M. — Eastern New Mexico University President, Dr. Steven Gamble, has announced the selection of Dr. Jeff Geiser as the new athletic director at ENMU. Kaiser brings plenty of on-the-job experience to the position, serving as AD for Adams State College (Colo.) for the seven total years. A press conference will be held at Greyhound Arena on Wednesday, May 20th at 10 a.m. MST to introduce Geiser to the school and community.

“Jeff Geiser will be a positive addition to Eastern New Mexico University,” said Gamble. “He has a long record of successful leadership abilities and I know he will be an exceptional athletic director.”

Geiser served as Adams State’s Director of Athletics from 2000-2006 in addition to a one-year stint in the position during the 1986-87 year. During his time as athletic director, he served as the department’s primary fundraiser. Since 2006, he fine tuned his ability to persuade people, serving as a sales representative for Gilman Gear Sporting Goods.

“I am excited for the opportunity at Eastern New Mexico University,” said Geiser. “I think it has great potential. During my visit, I really enjoyed the staff, from the president down through the administration, to the staff and coaches. I am looking forward to getting started in Portales.”

He first arrived at Adams State in 1984 as the head football coach and an instructor in the exercise physiology and leisure sciences department. In 1986-7 academic year, the role of athletic director was added to his responsibilities. Geiser was again called on as an administrative capacity, becoming the associate athletic director from 1992-1996, before being named as the Chairman of the physiology and leisure sciences department from 1997-2006. In 2000, he was selected as the athletic director for ASC, a program featuring 17 sports.

Geiser will step in for Mike Maguire, who will teach physical education courses and fund raise for the athletic program.
