Angelo State takes LSC Softball Championship
Angelo State claimed its second straight Lone Star Conference softball championship with a 13-5 run-rule victory over Abilene Christian on Saturday at Poly Wells Field in Abilene, Texas.

The Rambelles won their fourth league crown in seven seasons with two wins over the Wildcats in the championship series. ASU (43-8) earned the LSC's automatic bid into the NCAA Division II South Central Regional.

Tarleton signs JUCO point guard
Heralded Ranger College point guard Corin Henry, a first-team all-conference pick in the North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference, has signed a national letter of intent to play for Tarleton State.

Henry, a 5-11 play maker from Baltimore, scored 14.4 points per game while dropping off 3.3 assists and collecting 1.8 steals to lead Ranger to a 20-10 record last season. He scored 26 points twice against Grayson Community College, had 24 points and four assists against Southwest Christian CC and 23 points at Temple. Arguably the best game of his career came when he tallied 21 points against then No. 2 Indian Hills Junior College in December, 2008.

“We have been recruiting Corin all season long and love what he will bring to our team next season,” said 21-year Tarleton head coach Lonn Reisman. “Corin is a tough point guard who has great speed and quickness, loves to defend and can score in a lot of ways.”

Henry, who picked Tarleton over defending South Central Region champ Central Missouri State, Lone Star Conference South Division member West Texas A&M, Central Arkansas and South Alabama, played for former Texan Rodney McConnell at Ranger.

The West Texas A&M women's golf team, ranked sixth in the NCAA West Region, begins play today in the Division II super regional tournament at the Ironwood Golf and Country Club in Omaha, Neb.

For the eighth straight year, Tarleton State is back in the NCAA Division II South Central Region women’s tennis tournament, meaning they are just two wins away from making the school’s second trip to nationals.
