LSC Scoop Power Power Poll and Week Two Superlatives

1. ACU (2) - outslugged #9 Washburn on the road.
2. TAMK (3) - shut down the high powered NWMSU offense.
3. WT (1) - almost overcame 5 turnovers in their upset bid at #2 GVSU. 
4. MSU (5) - dominated in a game they were expected to.
5. TAMC (6) - first half, two turnovers and two punts, second half 5 TDs
6. ASU (7) - last minute TD drive to outscore ENMU
7. NSU (12) - biggest upset win of the week
8. TSU (4) - all the new parts not clicking yet
9. ENMU (8) - Offense humming, but defense still has some work to do
10. UCO (9) - Do the Bronchos smell blood in the water?
11. SOSU (10) - Cardinals might be just the ticket for Savage Storm.
12. ECU (11) - Offense looked to be improved, but the defense still needs to get a lot better.

Best Overall Team Performance - Northeastern State

The Riverhawks sent shock waves across the LSC, upsetting Tarleton State 31-23.  Two Drew Patton field goals and a Trey McVay TD reception staked NSU to a 14-0 lead.  They stretched that advantage to 24-7 early in the fourth quarter, and after the Texans cut the margin to 8, returned a kickoff for their final TD of the evening.

Best Team Offensive Performance - Midwestern State

The Mustangs blitzed an overmatched NMHU defense for 581 yards and 52 points.  MSU averaged 8 yards per carry, piling up 352 rushing yards, added 229 through the air and punted just once.

Best Team Defensive Performance - Texas A&M-Kingsville

The Javelinas limited the #1 and defending champion Northwest Missouri Bearcats to 194 yards of offense and a single touchdown.  NWMSU could must just 49 yards rushing and 145 through the air.  The Javelinas sacked QB Blake Bolles seven times and limited NWMSU to just 3 plays on more than half (6 of 11) of their possessions.

Best Individual Offensive Performance - Josh Neiswander, ASU

Josh Neiswander started the season strong, throwing for 349 yards and 5 TDs to lead Angelo State to a win over Eastern New Mexico.  Trailing by 4 with 2:23 to play, Neiswander led the Rams 54 yards for the winning score, completing all four pass attempts for 41 yards, capping the drive off with a 9 yard pass to Tristan Carter.

Best Individual Defensive Performance - Matt Romig, TAMK

Matt Romig spearheaded the Javelina defense forcing a fumble and sacking QB Blake Bolles 3.5 times, with the biggest coming coming on a fourth down with under 30 seconds to play and NWMSU on the Javelina 39 yard line.

Best Individual Special Teams Performance - Nate Robinson, NSU

Moments after Tarleton State had pulled to within one score of the Riverhawks lead, Robinson took the ensuing kickoff 95 yards giving NSU a 31-16 with just under 7 minutes to play.
