Trotter Added to Football Staff
WEATHERFORD, Okla. - New Southwestern Oklahoma State University football coach Dan Cocannouer has made his first step in re-shaping the Bulldogs coaching staff with the announcement that Toby Trotter has been added as a full-time assistant coach.
Trotter, 31, will coach the defensive secondary and be in charge of coordinating the Bulldogs recruiting efforts. Trotter will join current assistant Todd Helton, the lone full-time holdover from the previous staff. Cocannouer said he expects to add one or two more assistant in the next few days.
"I am really excited about Coach Trotter coming here and being part of our staff," Cocannouer said. "He is a coach of high character and integrity. He will do an outstanding job and is eager to help us build a winning attitude and philosophy . He is a tremendous football coach, and most importantly, he is a tremendous teacher and mentor of young men."

Wilkerson suspended by UIW
University of the Incarnate Word running back Jerrell Wilkerson has been placed on suspension for the remainder of the spring semester for academic reasons, UIW coach Mike Santiago announced Monday.
“He has to take care of his stuff academically,'' said Santiago, who acknowledged that San Antonio's all-time high school rushing leader might never play a down for the Cardinals.
“Let's put it this way, ‘He's still alive,'” Santiago said. “Can he be eligible for the fall? Yes. Will he? I don't know. That's up to Jerrell.”
Wilkerson's participation in football will be limited this spring. He will remain on the roster and will be allowed to continue with his eight hours per week of conditioning, Santiago said. But he will sit out spring practice, scheduled for March 16-April 9.
