Breaking News - Tyson Williams to transfer to Texas Tech

The reloading effort just got a lot harder at West Texas A&M.

Leading reciever, Tyson Williams has confirmed that he will not be returning to the school. Instead, he is transferring down the road to Texas Tech. After sitting out the 2011 season, Williams will be eligible for his senior season in 2012.

We also received confirmation from the WT athletic department.  A representative of the department said," Apparently, Tyson Williams is pursuing a couple of options that don’t involve WT – either transferring to a D-I school, sitting out a year and hopefully playing with his brother (who apparently is a top-notch recruit), or pursuing his options – whatever they may be – in the NFL draft."

Contrary to an earlier report, the WT athletic department said "He has not been dismissed from the WT football team, but has told the coaching staff that he's looking to play elsewhere."

In 3 seasons, Williams has cracked the top 5 in the West Texas A&M record books with 166 receptions and 2,195 yards. This past season he led the LSC with 96 catches for 1,321 yards. For his efforts, he was named first team All-LSC South and All Super Region 4 by Daktronics.

We will continue to update this story as new information becomes available.
