The Rambelles look to keep pace in the LSC South race today when they travel to Portales, N.M. to face Eastern New Mexico. ... ASU is coming off a 65-56 loss to West Texas A&M on Saturday. Lindsey Mahone led the Rambelles with 21 points. Camille Perkins added 16. Mahone led the team in rebounds with nine. ... ENMU is coming off a 65-59 loss to Tarleton State on Saturday. ... ASU is 33-20 all-time vs. ENMU. The Rambelles won both meetings last year between the two teams. ... ASU will be back in action Saturday when the Rambelles host Incarnate Word.

It's collision time in the Lone Star Conference men's South Division.
Hoops fans in the First United Bank Center tonight are in for a treat when Tarleton State, the hottest team in the LSC South, meets West Texas A&M, playing with a great sense of urgency, in a game which could eventually determine the South champion.

There's little doubt that West Texas A&M's Lone Star Conference South Division women's basketball game with No. 23 Tarleton State is important.
The Lady Buffs and TexAnns are tied in South Division play at 4-0 and will determine who stays atop the standings at 6 p.m. today at the First United Bank Center.
But win or lose, WT coach Krista Gerlich is telling the Lady Buffs (11-6 overall) that the season is long, and this game isn't a must-win.
"The thing that we can't do is place too much emphasis on it: that this is our season," Gerlich said. "Obviously, we want to put ourselves in the best position we can to win the South Division. It is a big game but we have a long way to go. Our season is still very long, so we just need to come out and do what we do, play the best that we can and focus on getting better."

MSU, ASU favored in 2011 LSC Softball Preseason Poll
RICHARDSON, Texas – Midwestern State and Angelo State were selected to win the 2011 Lone Star Conference Softball North and South Division titles, respectively, as the preseason polls were announced by league officials on Wednesday. MSU is favored to repeat in the LSC North Division, while ASU is the top choice to claim the LSC South crown.
The LSC has 15 teams including the debut of Incarnate Word, with seven teams in the North and eight in the South Division. The 2011 season starts February 1 with non-conference action. Along with a three-game series against each divisional opponent, the league will hold its annual crossover tournament April 1-3 in San Angelo, Texas. The top four teams in each division will advance to the LSC Championship, May 5-6-7 in Durant, Okla.
North Division
Midwestern State is the top choice to win the Lone Star Conference North Division title. The Mustangs received 14 of the 16 first-place votes cast by LSC coaches, sports information directors and various media representatives. MSU totaled 109 points on the heels of winning a LSC record 54 games including a 20-2 league mark to win the North Division for the fourth time in school history. The Mustangs advanced to the NCAA Division II South Central Super Regional after claiming the regional crown.
Central Oklahoma’s Kacie Edwards earned LSC North Division Preseason Player of the Year honors.
Edward’s, a sophomore catcher from Yukon, Okla., made an immediate impact in her first season to earn LSC North Division first-team and Freshman of the Year acclaim. She had a team-high .356 average and also led UCO in hits, doubles and runs batted in, while making just three errors in nearly 300 fielding chances behind the plate.
MSU’s Brittney Tanner was named LSC North Division Preseason Pitcher of the Year.
Tanner, a senior from Burkburnett, Texas, posted a 22-3 mark with a 1.61 ERA and 214 strikeouts, both of which ranked second in the LSC, including six shutouts in 28 appearances last season. She was a second-team All-North Division selection as both a pitcher and designated player.
UCO collected one first-place vote to finish second with 87 points, while East Central was third with 72 points and the remaining first-place nod. Southeastern Oklahoma was fourth with 71 points, followed by Cameron fifth with 46, Southwestern Oklahoma sixth 32 and Northeastern State seventh with 31.

South Division
Angelo State is the favorite to prevail in the Lone Star Conference South Division. The Rambelles totaled 165 points with 12 of the 22 first-place votes cast by LSC coaches, sports information directors and various media representatives. ASU, the three-time defending LSC champions, won the league, regional and super regional titles en route to the NCAA Division II National Championship, where their notable season ended in the semifinals. The Rambelles closed out 2010 with 50 or more wins for the third time in four years and fourth time in eight campaigns. ASU has won five South Division titles and five conference crowns.
West Texas A&M Kimberly LeComte was tabbed LSC South Division Preseason Player of the Year.
LeComte, a junior outfielder from Boerne, Texas, paced the Lady Buffs to their best season in program history including their first LSC South title and regional appearance last season. She was named the school’s first NFCA All-American after leading the team in most offensive categories including a league-best .790 slugging percentage, 64 runs scored, 21 home runs and 166 total bases. LeComte also earned LSC South Division Player of the Year and NFCA South Central Region first team acclaim.
WTAMU’s Shelbey Cockrell claimed LSC South Division Preseason Pitcher of the Year honors.
Cockrell, a junior from Pearland, Texas, led the nation in saves with eight and boasted a 1.85 ERA and perfect 10-0 record. She was tough on opposing batters with a .200 average, allowing a conference-best 66 hits, 28 runs and 24 earned runs along with no triples. Cockrell threw the second no-hitter is WTAMU history last season and was named so the All-LSC South second team.
WTAMU, the defending South Division champions, was right behind ASU in the poll with 159 points and nine first-place votes, while Texas Woman’s was third with 128 points and the remaining first-place nod.
Tarleton State was fourth with 98 points, followed by newcomer Incarnate Word in fifth with 85, Abilene Christian and Texas A&M-Kingsville tied for sixth with 64 and Eastern New Mexico eighth with 29.
