New York Jets find their man
Former Southwestern Oklahoma Bulldog, Rex Ryan and the New York Jets are reported to have reached an agreement that would make the Baltimore Raven's defensive coordinator the new head coach for the Jets.

Both Rex and his twin brother Rob (Oakland Raiders DC) played football at SWO from 1981-1984. It was a relationship between Bulldog HC Bob Mazie and Buddy Ryan that brought the brothers to Weatherford.

Alice's Davis to coach Central High School football (ASU alum)
Alice head coach Brent Davis is set to be announced as the new head coach of the Central football team today, the Standard-Times has confirmed.

Davis plans to address his players in Alice early today and travel to San Angelo, where he is expected to be formally approved Tuesday night at the school board meeting.

This year's district title was the first for the Alice program since 1985. He was named the District 31-4A Coach of the Year this season.

Prior to his four years in Alice, Davis had been the head coach at 5A The Colony in Lewisville, 3A Sinton (where he advanced to the state championship game in 2001) and 2A Banquete.

His overall record as a head coach is 101-57-1.

Bobeck named NJCAA Coach of Year (UCO alum)
Nick Bobeck didn’t receive plaudits from his own conference, but the Navarro College football coach certainly grabbed the attention of the rest of the country.

The NJCAA Football Coaches Association selected Navarro’s Bobeck as the 2008 NJCAA Football Coach of the Year. Bobeck led the Bulldogs to a 10-1 record in his first year as head coach.

Bobeck started his coaching career as a graduate assistant at the University of Central Oklahoma, where he was an all-conference fullback.

Mack Butler Returns To OSU Football Staff (UCO alum)
Oklahoma State head football coach Mike Gundy has announced the hiring of Mack Butler as OSU’s director of football operations.

Kiffin completes Tennessee football staff (TSU 2004 secondary coach )
Tennessee football coach Lane Kiffin completed hiring for his staff on Friday, multiple media outlets reported. Running backs coach Eddie Gran, wide receivers coach Frank Wilson and secondary coach Willie Mack Garza Jr. will join the Volunteers, closing out a lengthy selection process begun by Kiffin soon after he was hired at the end of November.

2008 accomplishments: Led the Antlers through plenty of adversity, including the loss of offensive line coach Derek McKiddie and the midseason suspension of several players. ..... Tivy struggled defensively at first, switching from a 4-3 to a 3-4, but improved dramatically over the course of the season. The Antlers finished 12-3 and reached the state semifinals for the first time since 1988. ..... Key games included beating Steele 34-27, a 31-30 comeback against Clemens and a 41-24 victory against Beeville.
