They said I ran good 40 times and to stay competitive and stay consistent in what I'm doing this weekend and it will all work out for me. They told me I have good size and the speed I possess goes good for what they're looking for at the next level. Sometimes it works out for you and sometimes it doesn't. Hopefully, I'll be one of the guys it works out for," Perkins said.

KINGSVILLE - Javelinas record-setting receiver Jareko Taylor has been spending the last few days working out in front of NFL scouts preparing for Friday's Cactus Bowl.
However, now Taylor is just hoping he'll be healthy enough to play.

Bulldogs' dream season continues
KINGSVILLE — Quarterback Ted Schlafke and safety Tyler Yelk were part of a special season for Minnesota-Duluth, a university more feted for hockey than football.
That all changed this season when Schlafke, Yelk and the rest of the Bulldogs etched their names on the university's list of stellar performers along with ex-NHL and Minnesota-Duluth standout Brett Hull.

Former Hearne High school standout John Randle is among 15 finalists for the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The defensive tackle played for 14 seasons with the Minnesota Vikings and Seattle Seahawks. The seven-time Pro Bowler had 137.5 sacks, which is the most by a tackle in NFL history.
Randle was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame and was inducted into the Minnesota Vikings Hall of Honor earlier this season. He played at Trinity Valley Community College before finishing his collegiate career at A&M-Kingsville.
This is the first year he's eligible for the Hall of Fame which also is the case for career sacks leader Bruce Smith, cornerback Rod Woodson and tight end Shannon Sharpe.

Former Minnesota Vikings defensive tackle John Randle, who played at Hearne High School, Trinity Valley Community College in Athens and at Texas A&I, now Texas A&M-Kingsville, is the only Texan on the list.
Reports: Ex-Baylor coach Guy Morriss to take A&M-Commerce job
Two television stations are reporting that former Baylor head football coach Guy Morriss will be returning to the college football ranks in Texas by taking over the Texas A&M-Commerce program.
The reports come from KXII-TV in Sherman and KWTX-TV, Channel 10, here in Waco.
The school has scheduled a news conference to announce the move at 3 p.m. today, reports the Greenville Herald Banner.
RiverHawks Footballs Announces New Additions to Staff
RiverHawks Head Football coach Kenny Evans announces the additions of Brad Cornelsen and Beau Davidson to the staff for the 2009 football season.
Cornelsen will take over as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach while Davidson will coach the defensive line.
Collins is Upshaw Award winner
Sam Collins, a senior center from Abilene Christian University, has been selected as the 2008 winner of the Gene Upshaw Division 2 Lineman of the Year Award, which is sponsored by the Manheim Touchdown Club.
"After speaking with Abilene Christian head coach Chris Thomsen, it's easy to see why Collins was this year's award winner," Manheim Touchdown Club president Don Harris said in a release.
"Sam Collins started every game in his college career, and set a record for starts at Abilene Christian with 46 consecutive starts. Anyone who can start on a Division 2 football team as a freshman and not miss a game is someone special. I know that Gene would be pleased with this year's award winner."
"Sam Collins is what I call a 'triple crown' type of individual," Thomsen said in a release. "He's a great student, a great player and an even better person. When you build a football team, we have always tried to build up the middle. Sam Collins has anchored that middle for us for the last four years."
Sam is a leader, he's smart and he's a competitor. We finished 11-1 this year. It's easy to be a good coach when you have a player like Sam Collins."

Buffs meet Adams State in rematch
West Texas A&M opened its Nov. 18 with a road game at Adams State in Alamosa, Colo.
The Buffs won, 74-66, pretty much setting the stage for the road these two teams have traveled the past seven weeks as they meet again at 7 tonight in a Division II men's basketball game in the First United Bank Center.
