NSU offense sputters in flooding rains

The remnants of Hurricane Ike showed up just before kickoff of Saturday night’s football game between Northeastern State University and Midwestern State University at Doc Wadley Stadium.
The flooding rains didn’t allow either offense to move the football and forced teams to rely on being opportunistic.

Angelo overpowers Bulldogs

WEATHERFORD — As it turned out, Angelo State's first three possessions decided the Rams' football game Saturday night at Southwestern.
The visitors scored two touchdowns and a field goal on their first three series, en route to a 24-2 win at Milam Field.
Angelo State (1-2) ended a seven-game losing streak, dating to last year. Southwestern, in its home opener, dipped to 1-2.

Taking care of business

Granted, Azusa Pacific is not Tarleton State or Chadron State, but West Texas A&M overpowered a team it should've overpowered.
The Buffs scored 75 points, the sixth-most in a game in school history, in a 62-point romp that pushed WT's record to 3-0. It could've been worse, but most starters played just a half, including quarterback Keith Null, and the Buffs were stopped at the Azusa 10 in the fourth quarter.

Tarleton rolls past East Central in LSC opener

ADA, Okla. - Tarleton State weathered constant rain produced by Hurricane Ike and its first road trip of the 2008 season Saturday, blowing past East Central, 38-6, in the No. 19 Texans’ first Lone Star Conference crossover game at Norris Field. The Tarleton defense shut the Tigers out in the first half, building a 31-0 lead before calling the dogs off after the break.
The opening half was a disaster from the start for ECU which fell to 0-3 overall and 0-2 in LSC play.
