The rebuilding task for Kurt Nichols continues at East Central. That chore likely will be made easier once the Tigers attempt to beat the opposition instead of themselves.
While last week's task against NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision (I-AA) foe Sam Houston State wasn't going to be an easy one under any circumstances, East Central compounded matters by turning over the ball six times. The Bearkats, led by former Oklahoma quarterback Rhett Bomar, converted four of those turnovers into 24 points and blasted the Tigers 58-14.

Rams facing No. 18 team in A&M-Commerce

The Texas A&M University-Commerce football team has boasted one of the best defensive units in the Lone Star Conference the past few seasons.
After allowing 115.4 yards per game on the ground a year ago and ending the season with a 5-4 record, the Lions started the 2008 season with a national ranking and the distinction of being the preseason pick to win the LSC North Division.

Trading places: Norsworthy left SOSU to run MSU offense

You’ll have to excuse Dean Norsworthy if he ends up on the wrong sideline Saturday night at Memorial Stadium.
That’s because Midwestern State’s new offensive coordinator held the same position at Southeastern Oklahoma State — the Mustangs’ opponent — for two of the past three seasons.

Eskridge to start at quarterback for Mustangs

The Midwestern State Mustangs have some big shoes to fill at quarterback in 2008 and Zack Eskridge will get the first opportunity to take over the position.
Eskridge, a 6-4, 215-pound transfer from Texas Christian, got the starting nod from head coach Bill Maskill Wednesday night over redshirt freshman Brad Green, a former standout at Windthorst.
