Offensive
Jessica Ransom, Midwestern State, Sr., OH, Wichita Falls, Texas/Wichita Falls
Ransom established herself as MSU's go-to hitter after helping the Mustangs to a perfect 4-0 weekend at the Catawba College Invitational in Salisbury, N.C. The 6-0 outside hitter from Wichita Falls made just two errors in 50 total attempts and averaged a team-high 3.75 kills per set. Ransom recorded 13 kills and hit .600 in a 3-0 win over Lenoir-Rhyne to cap the weekend.
Natalie Johnson, West Texas A&M, Jr., OH, Cortez, Colo./Montezuma-Cortez
Johnson was named to the BritKare Lady Buff Classic all-tournament team for her efforts as WTAMU went 5-0 last week. The junior paced the offensive with four double-digit kill sets, while hitting at a .355 clip.
Defensive
Shawna Hines, Abilene Christian, So., MB, Aurora, Colo./Rangeview
Hines was named to the Lady Buffs Classic all-tournament team after having a solid effort on both sides of the net to help the Wildcats to a 4-0 start. Hines recorded 31 kills in four matches to accompany a .307 hitting percentages while tallying 18 total blocks (1s 17a) on the weekend.
Caitlin Murphy, Eastern New Mexico, Jr., Libero, Amarillo, Texas/Tascosa
Murphy averaged a team best 4.71 digs per set (66 total) over the weekend's four matches. In 100 total attempts, she posted a .930 service reception percentage with just seven errors. She also recorded two service ages, and five assists. She recorded at least 13 digs in all four matches, including 19-dig performances against Missouri Southern State and Rollins College.
Setter
Katie Rickwartz, West Texas A&M, Jr., Setter, Canyon, Texas/Canyon
Rickwartz guided WTAMU to a perfect 5-0 record to open the season. The junior averaged 11.67 assists per set, pacing the Lady Buffs offense to a .311 team hitting percentage. She also had seven kills, five service aces, 25 digs and seven total blocks.
Allison Schreiber, Midwestern State, Sr., Setter, Windthorst, Texas/Windthors
tSchreiber earned Most Valuable Player honors at the Catawba College Invitational in Salisbury, N.C. after leading Midwestern State a perfect 4-0 mark. The senior from Windthorst recorded 10.75 assists per set while directing the Mustangs' attack to a .341 team hitting percentage. She also recorded 2.42 digs per set and had three service aces. MSU is off to its best start in school history and has won each of its 12 sets this season.
