Players of the Week
Co-North Offensive
Marcus Johnson, East Central, Jr., Quarterback, Abilene, Texas/Abilene
Johnson broke his own school record by passing for 426 yards to go along with two touchdowns in the Tigers' 55-49 overtime victory over NSU. Johnson broke his previous mark of 387 that he set last season in a loss to NSU. Johnson fired TD passes of 68 and 36 yards to Justin Goolsby as he was 28-of-46 through the air (60.8 percent) with one interception.

Ryan Gallimore, Central Oklahoma, Jr., Wide Receiver, Okmulgee, Okla./Okmulgee
Gallimore caught three passes for 94 yards in UCO's 21-13 win over A&M-C, with two big plays sparking the Bronchos. He caught a 44-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter to give the Bronchos a 14-6 lead, then had a 49-yard reception in the third period to set up UCO's clinching score. It was the two longest pass plays of the season for the Bronchos.

Brandon Hopstein, East Central, Sr., Def. End, Seminary, Miss./Seminary/Jones County CC
Hopstein recorded three tackles for losses of 16 yards, including a quarterback sack which resulted in an 11-yard loss and forced fumble in ECU's 55-49 overtime win over NSU. Hopstein's sack and forced fumble led to teammate Maurice Lanclos returning a fumble 30 yards for a touchdown just before halftime.

K.C. Asiodu, Central Oklahoma, Sr., Linebacker, Chino Hills, Calif./Ayala
Senior linebacker spearheaded UCO's defensive efforts in a 21-13 win over A&M-C. Asiodu made 10 tackles, including three for loss, while also intercepting a pass and breaking up another. The Bronchos limited the Lions to 172 total yards in picking up their first win of the season.

Co-North Special Teams
Tyrone Gibbs, East Central, Sr., Kick Returner, Wylie, Texas/Wylie/Trinity Valley JC
Gibbs had 163 all-purpose yards in ECU's 55-49 overtime victory over NSU. He returned three kickoffs for 112 yards, including one 47-yarder, and had one punt return for 10 yards. He also caught three passes for 41 yards, including one 20-yarder.

Jerome Hewitt, Southeastern Oklahoma State, Jr., KR, Gainesville , Texas/Gainesville
Hewitt racked up an impressive 173 yards on just four punt returns, despite SOSU falling to FCS opponent Northwestern State (La.). He averaged an impressive 43.3 yards per return, including a long return of 76 yards. His two longest returns, 76 and 65, set up SOSU's only two scores of the game, both passing touchdowns.

South Offensive
Keith Null, West Texas A&M, Sr., quarterback, Lampasas, Texas/Lampasas
Null recorded his first 500+ passing yard outing of his career (and his fifth 300+ passing yard outing of the season) at TAMUK, completing 35-of-49 for 545 yards and four TDs. At one point (encompassing the second and early-third quarters), Null was riding a string of 19 consecutive pass completions. Included in that total was a career-long 97-yard TD pass to Charly Martin on the first play from scrimmage to open the second half.

South Defensive
Aston Whiteside, Abilene Christian, R-Fr., Defensive End, Vernon, Texas/Vernon
Whiteside continued his dominating early-season play in Saturday night's 56-11 win over ENMU as he racked up four tackles, one sack, one tackle for loss, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, one quarterback hurry and one fumble return for a touchdown. His sack, strip, recovery and return for a touchdown late in the first quarter gave ACU a 21-0 lead on its way to a 56-11 win over ENMU. The Wildcats -- who did not have a defensive touchdown in 2007 -- had two more defensive scores Saturday night and now have five on the season, all in the last three games. Whiteside has two of those touchdowns - both on fumble returns - and he has recovered a fumble in each of ACU's last three games.

Co-South Special Teams
Matt Adams, Abilene Christian, Sr., Placekicker, Abilene, Texas/Abilene
Adams was 8 for 8 on PATs in Saturday night's win, the sixth time in his career that he has hit at least eight PATs in a game. Adams' eight PATs against ENMU give him 169 (162 conversions) for his career, which breaks the LSC's all-time record of 161 set from 1992-95 by former TAMUK placekicker John Cortez. Adams also broke the LSC record for career PAT conversions, which was 154 and was also held by Cortez.

Jabir Perkins, Texas A&M-Kingsville, Sr., DB/KR, Dallas, Texas/Irving Nimitz
He provided one of the most explosive kick returning games in Javelina history against WTAMU. His day started innocuously as he had 29 and 14-yard returns on his first two chances. With the Hogs trailing 45-14 in the third quarter, he returned a kick 64 yards to the WT 16-yard line that set up a touchdown for the Javs. Then, in the fourth the Buffs decided to test Perkins again and they would regret the decision. He returned the kick 91 yards for a touchdown as he broke numerous tackles and received excellent blocking on the play. It was the first Javelina kick off return for a touchdown since Derrick Foster returned a kick 100 yards against ENMU on October 30, 1999. It also broke a record for most kick off return yards in a game (198). Perkins is averaging 38.1 yards per kick off return which would be a school record if he maintains his average.
