North Offensive

Baylen Laury, Southeastern Oklahoma, R-Fr., Running Back, Forney, Texas/Forney

Laury supplied all three touchdowns that Southeastern scored in a 27-20 loss to Midwestern State. He rushed for 116 yards and boasted an average of 6.4 yards per carry. His three TD's are the most put up by a running back in the Lone Star Conference this season. His 116 yards was also the most by a LSC North running back in week two.

North Defensive

Andrew Gamboa, Texas A&M-Commerce, Sr., Linebacker, Mesa, Ariz./Mesa CC/Skyline

Led a Lions defense with 17 tackles against Angelo State in holding the Rams to 219 yards of total offense. The 17 tackles by Gamboa are the most since a 17-tackle effort by Darvin Peterson at Central Oklahoma (Sept. 30, 2006).

North Special Teams

Juan Velasco, Texas A&M-Commerce, Jr., K, Santa Maria, Calif./Santa Maria/Allan Hancock

Velasco made two field goals that put the Lions in front 6-0 early in the game. He also got off a 46-yard punt on the Lions' final possession that pinned the Rams at their own 38-yard line in replace of 2007 Second Team All-LSC North Division punter Daniel Swaim.

South Offensive

Roderick Smith, Tarleton State, Jr., RB, Mesquite, Texas/West Mesquite

Smith was one of two Tarleton running backs to amass over 100 yards rushing as the Texan junior ran for 187 yards on 15 carries, averaging 12.5 yards per touch. He scored two touchdowns, including a 66-yard rumble against Northeastern State. The other touchdown was punched in from three yards out.

South Defensive

Arlen Childress, Texas A&M-Kingsville, Sr., Linebacker, Humble, Texas/Humble

Childress spearheaded a Texas A&M-Kingsville defense that forced four turnovers and held the East Central offense in check. In the first half, ECU had minus-1 yards rushing and finished the game with 46 total. Twenty-seven of those yards came on a fake punt attempt. He had a hand in forcing LSC North Preseason Offensive Player of the Year Marcus Johnson into three interceptions with two pass break ups.

South Special Teams

Eric John, Texas A&M-Kingsville, Jr., Wide Receiver, Miami, Fla./Miami

John had an outstanding game on special teams in the Javelinas' 44-14 win at East Central. He made 3.5 tackles on kickoffs and punt returns, recovered a muffed ECU punt, returned a kickoff 25 yards from his up back position and downed a punt at the 2-yard line, saving it from going in the end zone as a touchback. His play was a key reason why the Javelinas were able to take a relatively close game and blow it open.
