Winless UCO visits NO. 16 Tarleton

Tarleton State has climbed to No. 2 in the nation in total defense, including No. 4 against the run.
That doesn’t bode well for the Bronchos of Central Oklahoma, who through three games, are averaging just 52 yards on the ground.
No. 16 Tarleton, 3-0 overall and 1-0 in Lone Star Conference crossover play is the heavy favorite in their second crossover battle against Central Oklahoma at 7 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Stadium. Play calling has contributed significantly to the Bronchos’ lack of a rushing attack. In its first year under new Head Coach Terry Holland, Central has employed a pass happy offense similar to the Texas Tech “Air Raid” that West Texas A&M has run in recent years. The Bronchos have operated in a 2-1 pass-to-run ratio, calling 129 pass plays and only 65 rush attempts in three straight losses to begin the season.

Javs' offensive line begins to gel

KINGSVILLE -- If it is true that familiarity breeds contempt, then it also is true that familiarity brings individuals and/or groups into close contact, to the point where said individuals almost can anticipate the others' moves.
That close camaraderie can go a long way for fostering success on the football field, especially on the offensive front where most coaches agree that ballgames are decided.
Thus it is no surprise that, eventually or finally, pending your viewpoint, Texas A&M-Kingsville has started to shed some growing pains on offense and become a productive unit.

Javelina Notebook: 09.18.08
In this case, the numbers aren't fibbing. Illinois transfer Billy Garza is steadily rounding into form as Texas A&M-Kingsville's No. 1 quarterback.
The Brownsville native earned co-Lone Star Conference South Division Offensive Player of the Week honors by helping guide the Javelinas over Central Oklahoma 41-6. In his third career start, Garza threw for 350 yards on a 24-of-38 effort and two touchdowns with an interception in leading the Javelinas to their second consecutive road victory.
