Offensive
Alaina Sivells, Angelo State, Jr., Middle Blocker, Marble Falls, Texas/Marble Falls
Sivells began last week with a school-record performance against Huston-Tillotson. The Marbles Falls native had 11 kills in 14 total attacks without an error for an ASU record .786 hitting percentage in leading the ‘Belles over Huston-Tillotson. In ASU's conference opener at Texas A&M-Kingsville, Sivells was second on the team with 16 kills against 6 errors out of 32 attempts for a .312 percentage. She ended her week at Tarleton State by tying for match-high honors with 10 kills out of 18 attempts with only two errors in ASU's win over TSU. For the week, Sivells pounded out 37 kills in 64 attempts with only eight errors for a .453 percentage. She also served up three aces in the three matches and was responsible for a team-high five total blocks.
Laura Prinsen, West Texas A&M, Jr., Rightside Hitter, Spring, Texas/Klein Collins
Prinsen could be considered the backbone of the Lady Buffs offense. She leads the team in kills and in the last three matches, she totaled 57 kills, averaging 4.07 kills per set. She has tallied 199 total kills this season, averaging 3.83 kills per set. Prinsen contributed nine assists, two service aces, and seven block assists to help lead the Lady Buffs to an undefeated weekend against #7-ranked Florida Southern, #22-ranked Saint Leo, and Eckerd College. Prinsen's best match was against Saint Leo, where she put down 23 kills to lead the Lady Buffs to a 3-2 victory over the Lions.
Defensive
Virginia Hernandez, Texas A&M-Kingsville, So., Libero, Katy, Texas/Katy
Hernandez played a huge role in the Javelinas winning their LSC opener against Angelo State. She tallied a season high 26 digs and help limit ASU to a .087 attack percentage in the team's 5-set win. She came back with 16 digs in a 3-set loss to Abilene Christian. She is now ninth in the LSC in digs per game.
Shay Velasquez, Midwestern State, Sr., Libero, Amarillo, Texas/River Road
Velasquez averaged 5.30 digs per set to help Midwestern State to a 3-0 week including a pair of Lone Star Conference wins as the Mustangs improved to a perfect 16-0. The senior from Amarillo had 17 digs in a sweep of Central Oklahoma on Thursday before notching 13 digs and two service aces in a four-set win over Southwestern Oklahoma on Saturday. She then finished off the week with a 23-dig performance in a sweep of Wayland Baptist on Monday.
Setter
Allison Schreiber, Midwestern State, Sr., Setter, Windthorst, Texas/Windthorst
Schreiber passed a major milestone while leading Midwestern State to a 3-0 week including a pair of Lone Star Conference wins as the Mustangs improved to a perfect 16-0. The senior from Windthorst became just the seventh setter in LSC history to record 5,000 career assists in another stellar week. Schreiber averaged 11.70 assists per set and paced the Mustangs to a team attack of .315. She also averaged 2.10 digs per set and had 15 kills. Schreiber had 46 assists and five digs while as MSU hit .440 in a 3-0 win over Central Oklahoma on Thursday before recording 41 assists, seven kills and seven assists as the Mustangs hit .352 in a four-set victory over Southwestern Oklahoma State on Saturday.
Katie Rickwartz, West Texas A&M, Jr., Setter, Canyon, Texas/Canyon
Rickwartz had a solid weekend against three tough opponents, including #7-ranked Florida Southern, #22-ranked Saint Leo, and Eckerd College. She tallied 143 assists, averaging 10.2 assists per set. Rickwartz also contributed six service aces to bring her season total to 16. Her best match was against Saint Leo, where she tallied 56 assists and two service aces. Rickwartz has totaled 553 total assists, averaging 11.52 assists per set.
