LSC Scoop Power Poll and Week 4 Superlatives

  1. Abilene Christian (1) - Built 31-0 lead in win over SOSU.
  2. Texas A&M-Kingsville (2) - Just seemed to cruise over NSU.
  3. Tarleton State (3) - Showed the passing game can be effective.
  4. Midwestern State (4) - Another big victory margin against an outmanned opponent.
  5. Angelo State (5) - Gets to prove they are for real this weekend.
  6. Southeastern Oklahoma (6) - Who will get the call at QB this week?
  7. Central Oklahoma (7) - gave TSU all they could handle, trailed by just 4 in fourth quarter.
  8. West Texas A&M (8) - Now that they have tasted victory, can they claw their way back to the top?
  9. Eastern New Mexico (9) - Each week, Greyhounds convert more unbelievers.
  10. Texas A&M-Commerce (10) - Just couldn't quite keep pace with ENMU.
  11. Northeastern State (11) - Glad to get to the LSC North schedule.
  12. East Central (12) - Took a step forward, but still a long way to go.

Overall Team Performance - Abilene Christian
ACU scored 4 first half TDs, with special teams playing a big part. Meanwhile the defense held Savage Storm to just 43 yards rushing, and 310 yards total. The Wildcats also forced two turnovers, and sacked Justin Pitrucha for a safety.

Offensive Team Performance - Eastern New Mexico
Hard to argue with 736 yards and 76 points. Team "only" attempted 67 passes last Saturday, good for 632 yards and 5 TDs. The running game chipped in 104 yards and 5 more TDs.

Defensive Team Performance - Tarleton State
Held Central Oklahoma to 287 yards, with just 87 coming on the ground. Came up big with game still in doubt in fourth quarter, sacking Brandon Noohi on fourth down, setting up the offense with a short field. On the next drive, Marcus Phillips picked off a Noohi pass, sealing the game.

Offensive Player of the Week - J. J. Harp, Eastern New Mexico
Harp threw for 602 yards and 5 TDs, with no interceptions, leading the Greyhounds to a 76-56 win over Texas A&M-Commerce.

Defensive Player of the Week - D'Angelo Waites, Angelo State
Waites racked up 12 tackles, including 2 for losses, and 1.5 sacks as well as forcing a fumble in the Rams 29-9 win over East Central.

Special Teams Player of the Week - Kendrick Johnson, Abilene Christian
Johnson had four punt returns for 117 yards, including a 72 yard return for a TD, putting the Wildcats up 14-0 late in the first quarter.
