Women's Soccer Update - LSC Adds Three More Wins

Thursday afternoon soccer matches involving LSC teams added three wins to the LSC’s non-conference win tally. Midwestern, ACU and Angelo St all claim wins over regional foes.

Midwestern supported their #14 ranking by defeating NAIA opponent Northwood (TX) 2-0. Lindsay Pritchard scored both goals for the Mustangs, in the 27th and 74th minutes. The Lady Mustangs used 24 players in the contest and held a 24-3 edge in shots. Northwood did not manage a shot on goal in the second half.

ACU halted a three game skid by handing the visiting Patriots of DBU a 3-1 defeat. The score was 0-0 at half, with a 7-6 shot edge for the Wildcats at that point. ACU opened things up in the second half and ended with a 18-9 shot advantage. Lyndsey Womack netted the first goal in the 63rd, Courtney Wilson scored in the 71st, and added a PK in the 73rd. DBU scored in the 87th on a corner kick. Freshman Arielle Moncure saw her first minutes in goal for the Cats for the final 17 minutes. Soph Rachel Patchen scored what first appeared to be a fourth goal for the ACU side, but was judged by the officials to have gone in after time expired and not counted.

Angelo St set a school record with their fifth straight win, this time over visiting UT-Brownsville. Megan Schaffer scored in the 26th for the Rambelles. Sophomore Bonnie Wallace saw her first start in goal and produced a shutout in response. Brownsville did hold an edge in shots 16-9 but were unable to find the net.
