2007 Recap
It's hard to believe that a team that outscores its opponents by a 44.5-18.6 margin falls short of the playoffs, but that's what happened to the Midwestern State Mustangs last year. MSU either won big (an average margin of 38 pts with 22 pts the closest), or lost close games (an average of 6 pts per game). Particularly difficult were losses to WT (25-20) and ACU (42-41). On a positive sidenote, the Mustangs dealt Texas A&M-Kingsville the worst loss in their history.

Week 1 - SEO - received more votes in the AFCA poll, so this could really get one team's season off to a solid start
Week 3 - #20 Newberry - should be a great non-conference game. We should have a pretty good idea of MSU after this game.
Week 5 - #10 West Texas A&M - tough road game. MSU may be in must win mode by this week.
Week 6 - Tarleton State - only team to beat MSU by more than 5 last year.
Week 10 - #8 Abilene Christian - the Mustangs had their chances last year, but couldn't deliver the knockout punch. This has become a great season ending game.
Best Case Scenario
9-1 The deep Mustang defense gets even tougher, improves the teams LSC leading turnover margin, and the offense doesn't miss Polk as much as thought
Worst Case Scenario
4-6 The tough schedule stunts the teams confidence, defense is simply solid, not great and offense suffers dropoff from losses of Polk, Lee and two all conference linemen.
