LSC Football - Texas A&M Kingsville Preview

2007 Recap
For the second season in a row, Texas A&M Kingsville started the season with a true freshman under center, not a good omen. After 8 games, the Javelinas found themselves at 1-7 and coming off the worst defeat in the program's history, a 73-6 rout that saw them outgained by a 600-161 margin. Instead of packing it in for the season, they closed out their season winning two of their last three games, and hanging tough with ACU for 3 and a half quarters before falling in Abilene. The offense finally came around - 457 yards 39 points per game over the last three weeks. For the season the Javelinas were 11th in both scoring offense and defense, 9th in total offense and 10th in total defense.

Big Games
Week 1 at North Dakota - annual playoff contender in D2, the Sioux are moving to FCS (IAA)
Week 2 at East Central - If the Javelinas are to have a successful season, this is a game they need to win
Week 5 - West Texas A&M - Javelinas will hope to use this game the same way WT did in 2005.
Week 8 - Midwestern State - The Mustangs have outscored the Javelinas 158-37 the last three games.

Best Case Scenario
7-4 - The offense continues its late season performance, defense plays like they did early last year. Another year of experience eliminates youthful mistakes.

Worst Case Scenario
4-7 - Running game does not improve, forcing offense to be one dimensional. Defense, especially run defense, remains in bottom half of LSC. Turnover margin and time of possession remain in favor of opposition.
