Many changes greet Mustangs as drills begin

The key word for the Midwestern State Mustangs as they begin preseason football workouts is change.

Things will be a lot different when the 106 players begin reporting today.

For the first time in several years, Daniel Polk won’t be one of the quarterbacks in camp and there will be new offensive and defense coordinators.

Plus, there are more than 40 transfers and incoming freshmen who will be making their debuts.
The Mustangs are scheduled to do their physical testing at 3:30 p.m. Monday and then have their first practice at 5 p.m.

“I don’t think we’ll see the same personality with this team,” said head coach Bill Maskill, who is starting his seventh season at the helm. “We have two different signal callers (coordinators). We had a meeting the other day and there were 12 of us (coaches) — but only five that were there in the spring. So that’s seven new guys and with all those new guys, you’re not going to be the same.
