Players look to make a mark during scrimmage

By George Vondracek

KINGSVILLE -- The proof will be in the review of the video from Thursday's first fall scrimmage for Texas A&M-Kingsville's football team. Suffice to say, the players who will be filling supporting roles got their share of action.

"I thought it went well. We've got quite a few guys that we know can play, played last year, we're comfortable with them. Today, you probably noticed they got limited number of reps," second-year coach Bo Atterberry said of the 90-minute scrimmage. "We're looking for the next-best-guy at different positions and having to get them several more reps because a lot of them are guys that need to learn.

"We want to see them out there in live action," Atterberry said. "We'll go back and look at the film and find out which ones can help us in those spots and press for starting jobs and get it narrowed down in the next couple of weeks for sure."
